Question on Oliver remains as to whether he is progressing. The communication out of the club seems to be the same for the last few weeks in that he is stuck at 90% or thereabouts.

@ all the physio's, is this progression normal for an injury such as his.

We all know he'll give it all on his return, but you do need a few weeks-months to sharpen skills, match fitness etc etc. I'd want at least 3-4 games into Oliver before going into finals.

You just can’t speed the tendon recovery, so if we accept that it IS tendon, the progression to sprint/acceleration will speed over the next month. I certainly wouldn’t worry about his skills, and match fitness for players such as Clarry is in the head as much as legs. He’ll be like a caged lion come his return. His aerobic fitness won’t be a problem, as he’d be doing lots of other stuff - bike, pool, circuit.

For a 21 day injury!! GIVE ME A BREAK!!

By the time he plays if will be a 9-10 week injury.Still reckon I smell a Rat!

Conspiratorial fugazi. It’s not an exact science, however much we wish otherwise.

Looks pretty happy in the training vid.

Regardless of when he returns, if he's happy, I'm happy. For me and for him.

Speaking of happy, Fritta is also happy. He’s progressing well ahead of time. No surprise since as I’ve said before healing quickly and well runs in his family. They must be made of titanium. 😄

No need to touch wood, Daise. He’ll be fit and firing ahead of time. 👍🏽

He said pre game on Friday that he’s hoping to get a game or two in before finals. That would be absolutely fantastic. We can’t win the flag without him… or Clarry.

Does anyone know what the situation is  on Carrie?

You dont want to know, it is an absolute horror

Injury List: Round 19

Harry Petty - Ribs  | Test
Clayton Oliver - Hamstring | 3 - 4 Weeks
Tom McDonald - Ankle | 3 - 4 Weeks
Bayley Fritsch - Foot | 5 - 6 Weeks
Daniel Turner - Hand | 5 - 6 Weeks
Kye Turner - Groin | TBC

I reckon we wont see the Chananooga Choo Choo again till finals if that!😘

Hammy aside Clayton has been infamous for being beaten up in season. They regularly joked on Gus and Gawny about Clarry barely being able to get his hands above his head with sore shoulders. If he comes back in 3 weeks cherry ripe I think we could see something remarkable. A fresh superstar mid moving freely and chomping at the bit in a top four side, look out!

He seems to find a way to get smashed every game. Not conducive to a long career as a key defenders.

Harry has been smashed in the chest / back two weeks in a row.  And a foot earlier in the year.  Hardly “smashed every game”.  Calm down.

Sure, probably needed and needs an extra week or so, but you make it sound like he is going into a long term care facility.

WCW - has the actual injury been revealed publicly?

Can't recall our coach being injured as long as you don't count COVID.

Bevo punched the whiteboard at halftime breaking his hand yet didn’t say anything and didn’t get treatment until he arrived back in Melbourne. Imagine the pain! AND they lost a heart-stopper.

Yeah, it was made public a couple of days after it happened. He sprained his ankle and that caused a fracture in a bone in his foot. As of yesterday he’s out of the boot, and is “absolutely rapt” about that.

Clarko taught him well.

Calm down?

A bit of poetic licence from me.

Chill bro Mono.

For what it's worth I expect him to be picked this week and to play.

WCW - my question was re Harry Petty.  I suspect that your reply may have been re Frittata

binman - no probs there.   Surely if HP has been subbed out two weeks in a row with the same injury, aggravated, he would be best to sit it out this week.

I’m still concerned that Oliver’s timeframe isn’t actually getting any shorter. Before the Saints game it was 4 weeks. 2 weeks later it’s still 3-4 weeks. When are we going to get it to be 1-2 weeks?

As it stands, Goody has ruled him out for Richmond, and I doubt he plays against North and do the plane trip.

Surely the Carlton game is the target.

I would take that on offer in a heartbeat. The issue sounds complex

This is the first time I have seen or heard anyone involved in AFL media use the word laconic correctly.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
