There are some horrifically bad numbers there, particularly for teams such as the Bulldogs and Freo, who have been in the competition since the outset. Even Collingwood's numbers are poor.

I don't think some of the fixturing helps, eg putting games at venues such at Casey at 5pm on a Sunday.

Thankfully we have a team that plays attractive football and is good to watch.

It's a pleasure to watch our team play...and that reflects in the figures.

I think this graph shows how enthusiastic crowds tend to be in their team’s first year. With the exception of Hawthorn (who have many problems ATM) the top 3/4 are new expansion teams whose audiences are enthusiastic for their first year. You would think their numbers will fall a little next year as we get a realistic idea of their true believers.

This makes it a remarkable result for MFC as we continue to have the strongest non-expansion crowds and clearly have the strongest support for AFLW of any club. The teams high profile players, excellent play and strong amount of AFLW content on our platform all contribute.  It’s also our super dedicated supporters who have been their since the beginning at MFC. It’s even more remarkable given for a lot of our supporter base Casey is so hard to get to (I drive an hour each way to go)! Hopefully we can get a flag to go with it! 

You’d think our numbers would be higher if we played at an inner suburban venue. Gold Coast populace showing their usual apathy is no surprise. Dogs playing all their games away from WO whilst renovations to the playing surface and outer take place doesn’t help their numbers this season. 

I’m surprised that teams with huge membership numbers such as Collingwood and Richmond have disproportionately low attendance figures. I know not everyone who follows their men’s team also follows their W team but you’d think the numbers would be considerably higher.

And I’m not surprised Essendon is in the no. 2 spot. When we played them at Casey the other week they had almost as many supporters there as we had. But as @deejammin'just said, them being an expansion team might be the reason for that.

Also as deejammin said, we do have the strongest W support. Our Club is wonderful in terms of growing our W team. And I can’t speak for other Clubs but we certainly have a large group of supporters who only follow the W and they are crazy passionate.

Without a doubt, Rab. We’d be on top of that chart if our home ground was closer to the city. There are W members that I know who would love to attend Casey games but getting there is so difficult. I personally have a five-hour round trip by PT but I’m lucky to still be able to attend.

Perhaps having a railway platform and walk bridge where the line passes the northern side of the ground for match day use only, a bit like the old General Motors station not far away, would make a difference. In 5 years even the away team could catch a train straight from the airport without having to change. To use a VFA analogy it's like Springvale playing their home games out at Kilsyth every second week instead of Newcomen Road. 

There have been some very small crowds at Casey this season, but I guess it's all relative. Our average would have got a big boost from the MCG game, around 15,000 or so, which felt like some creative counting since it was a double header.

Will be very interested to see the numbers this Friday night. A great opportunity for those westside and northside for whom Casey is like a day's journey away!

To be fair both the Dees Port and Bombers crowds were inflated by an MCG Adelaide Oval and Marvel Stadium standout home game for different reasons. 

And it's correct that Port Bombers Swans and Hawks are higher also because of their first season in the comp.

Finals crowds will be interesting as Lions will be at Metricon Crows at Unley still and Cats at GMHBA Stadium for  the first Final.

Just for fun I will predict the four games:

Melb/ Adelaide  Ikon Park     3,000/3,500

Lions/ Tigers   Metricon 5,000/6,000

Cats/ Roos GMHBA  4,500/5,000

Pies/ Dogs  Vic Park  4,000/4,500

Tigers fans will match Lions as it is at Metricon 

3/4 will be Cats fans no doubt. 

Pies will be 4/5 of crowd absolutely.

That's  assuming all games are not ruined by rain on the day/ night. 

 

I'm predicting 5,000 for our game. The Crows won't bring any fans but the Dees are pretty well supported. Anything less than 4,000 will be a disappointment

Only one team bringing the support. I think if it was against Richmond or Collingwood, it’d be pushing 6k. Ikon Park (Princes Park) isn’t exactly the most convenient place to get to. I think Vic Park, Punt Rd and Arden Street are all more likely to pull crowds. I wonder what we would have pulled if it was at Gosch’s Paddock

While you have games like last night  where 5 mins from the end the scores where 14 playing 16 there will not be a lot of incentive for people to go to games. These are finals teams !!! No idea what the TV ratings are but I suspect they do not justify the position they occupy on FTA.

Last nights game was a shocker but in general the games between the top teams are of a decent standard. Definitely getting better each season. And besides there are a quite a few low quality men’s games every season as well. 

Those Powa figures are largely inflated/skewed due to the fact they played a home game against the Crows at Adelaide Oval on a Friday Night.

That crowd was 20k, if you take that game and play it at Alberton Oval their home ground they would be lucky to get 5k.

Our home crowds are equally inflated by the North game which was before the mens QF.

Afl claimed that 17.8k were there watching the women's.

The crowd at Ikon Park was definitely dissapointing.

Lovely balmy evening, but very few there considering the players close contacts were probably half the crowd. From the west myself I refuse to trek out to Casey any more, but try to get to any game within inner city, but this year we were so often at Casey or interstate it just highlights our issues of a home ground. Maybe we would have got more at Casey? 

I think we'll win it this year and if our last two finals are at Ikon Park I'll be wrapped. Free parking everywhere 2 minutes from the ground.

This is Daisy's last hurrah I would think and if they finally get a flag it would be fitting for the standout icon of the Women's game. I think Daisy will be as important and as much loved in Melbournes history as Robbie Flower in years to come. People really should be taking their chance to see her in action. Also if your as lucky as me you might also get to see Allissa Bannen go for a 7 bounce run around the wing leaving a couple of crows players in her dust. Wow, she's terrific.

KITP princes Park ( Ikon) is on a tram line direct from Eliz St and Flinders St. What more Do you want ?

Yes Cwood and Tigers crowd  would be doubled or say 6,000 total at least at Ikon. Punt Rd or Arden St would have not been able to have any more than 3,000 as that is  their limit. Vic Park about 5,000. (4700 vs Fogs sellout) 

Those  that were there were very loud and passionate and don't complain about the standard Bris and Tigers was the same great pressure all game.

Thsts why the Dees ( and Lions) are the best teams as they can handle pressure and still score. It's not an exhibition match when the top 4 meet each other!!
