I'm way too easy.

The infinity of the internet never ceases to gobsmack me - a search for 'pistachio mondegreen' delivered me instant confirmation of your guess, @WalkingCivilWar. And guess further what! The site was called 'amIright'! (#WCWcatchphrases)

A little off-topic I know, but since when has that ever stopped me, amirite?!

One day I got to thinking about how if someone dies suddenly their online contacts may never know. To this end I had a convo with my middle son. I said, “if I was to die suddenly, don’t worry about FB, nor Insta, nor any of the band forums I’ve ever been on, there’s just one thing I want you to do online. I want you to tell my friends on Demonland that I’m dead. You don’t have to create an account, just log in under my account and let them know.”

AF recently joked about someone having a username or comment that sounded like one of his bad passwords. A bit of effort and I could probably crack half the people on here, this thread potentially one of the biggest contributors.

Why did Coldplay win the war when Augie March and Mercury Rev were doing the same thing at the same time but better?

I think you've identified the right song, but the mistaken lyric is more likely to be "... you make a grown man cry".

Lol: Mercury Rev 'Holes' with balloons floating down the street. I'll never understand why TV companies advertise their wares by showing how great it looks on their old stuff. Why not keep their old stuff? Balloons. Paolo Nutini. Done.

Right?! It’s a crying shame. 😡

But to answer your question… because people are spoon-fed their music. It’s either golden oldies (classic rock) or the [censored] they dish up on nova or whatever banal FM station that happens to be on. Things weren’t so bad before Triple J went the way of every other rubbish radio station.
Mercury Rev and Augie March so deserve the plaudits.

I notice that none of the self-credentialed doctors on this site have responded (you're excused Gonzo, we all love you).

WCW wins. But she knows I don't listen to lyrics and have hearing problems, so it's a slight draw.

Best subtle name change was Big_red_fire_engine (Broady) to @Lil_red_fire_engine(Bowser) late last year in the run towards the flag. The symbolism of letting go of the sad past and embracing the exciting new future couldn’t have hit the mark better for me. I believe he’d been BRFE since the Aimoo days too, so pre-2005.

"Pistachio ice cream" sounds very much like "you make a grown man cry" to my ears.

You couldn’t just let me win this one?! And against @Demonstone??? Do you know how much I (or anyone for that matter) dream about beating him? In anything??????
Beware Skort: I have a killer memory.

WCW wins by a mile. Demon's tone can't even get his apostrophes correct.

He said, “so, to be clear… if you die you want me to log into your fan forum, as you, to tell them you’re dead. Okaaay” 😳

So I said “ok then, create your own account for the purpose. You could call yourself SOWCW as in Son Of WCW.” He said, “nah, I’d be Walking Civil Unrest, and he (points to his younger brother) can be Walking Minor Spat.”  😂

Yep, we put the FUN in dysFUNctional!

I’ve thought about that a lot over the years too. I’ve been on Demonland for a really long time, but the only members I’ve ever personally spoken to are Andy and WJ, @Grapeviney@Jaded No More, @old55 and @Slartibartfast, and all only fairly anecdotally, and a really long time ago in the case of the latter three. Nevertheless many of the usernames here feel familiar to me and I feel like I know the personality attached, even if it’s a mostly imagined one based on what they write. It’s a community here. We all know each other, even if it’s a very curated version of ourselves. Every now and again I’ll see an old thread where a name I haven’t seen in ages comes up, and I see they haven’t visited in years and I wonder what happened?

Occasionally I also morbidly wonder if anyone on Demonland would know or care if I did die. Given I have no personal connection to anyone on here the news may never filter through. How depressing!

I always read @goodwindees as Goodwin Dees up until about a week ago. Guessing it’s a little play on words or nothing to do with Simon at all now.

I believe they are different people. This BBB was previously “Sylvia Saint” and then “No Plan B”.

Question: when I click on people’s profile, there’s a little circular arrow that shows their name history. Does everyone see that, or do I only see that as admin? I used to have a non-admin account to check this stuff, but haven’t used it in too many years now.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
