The athletic project player was delisted at the end of the season after two years during which he was mainly played in defence. His progress was slow and hampered by injuries and he was unlucky to miss Casey’s premiership after being ruled out of the grand final due to concussion protocols.

Maybe they should have listened to Kelly O'Donnell who was the only recruiter who wanted Jack Carroll at this pick...

Cant win 'em all.

The 2020 national draft is not shaping up as being a good one for the club.

As much as you hope every kid coming through the door has a long and rewarding career, I didn't see anything to suggest that Rosman had the makings of an AFL player. I'm glad we made the call now rather than dragging it out for another 12 months.

bit of an aimless comment isn't it? given one of them is already a premiership player at the club... 33% aint bad

Our recruitment team pushed hard for Fraser and I was hoping for that special 6’4” fast wingman that could run, mark and kick long. Sadly not to be.!!!

Given he was delisted immediately after not long on the list, and the fact he’s the only delisting. Makes me wonder if it was behavioural/work ethic? Nothing else really makes sense.

where's Jack Carroll  now? And what's he done?

Unfortunately Rosman did not stand a chance to become a AFL footballer, in the last 4 years of his life he played less than 35 games of which 24 were played at the MFC they tried him as a wingman which after watching 1 game I realised he was not a wingman then later they tried him as a backman which I suggested much earlier.

His game improved but injuries put paid to his career, when you are a natural athlete and not a natural footballer you need lots of games and coaches who analyse his preformances to suggest ways to improve, our coaches at Casey are trying to show their wares but forget they are basically development coaches dressed up as head/assistant coaches.

Currently on Carltons list and played 5 games this year after debuting  from a injury ruined first year last year.

Wingman/half back who's exactly what we're lacking in terms of depth on the outside with clean skills and poise.

Showed some real promise at AFL level this year from what I saw and already signed a new 2 year contract extension.

He was the one I wanted badly in the 2020 draft and was shocked when we overlooked him for Rosman. My support was immediately behind Rosman when we selected but deep down I was fairly disappointed we overlooked a natural footballer for an athlete who was still raw to the game.

Oh well.

Is he still our pro-scout? And if so, why hasn't he found us a good state league player in nearly a decade?

Rosman was a risk/reward shot that flamed out. But so far Carroll looks fairly underwhelming. If Carlton had any belief he could hold down a wing they probably wouldn't be bringing in Blake Acres.

We need to keep taking chances with later picks on guys with some serious upside and also be prepared to move on quickly if it's not working.

Could join Jarred Rivers, Viv Mitchie and reunite with his old school mates at Collegians.

Good luck Fraser Rosman make every post a winner at Port.!!!

A couple of well-separated good reports, and continuing supporter hopes and expectations, yet not forthcoming. Sadly, not to be but was not the only one.

I reckon Laurie will define if the 2020 draft was a success or barely a pass mark.

He would want to be getting senior games by year 3.

Because our best 22 is so perfect or Laurie is no good, or a combo of both?

It’s funny saying this but I tend to study people pretty closely body language, expression how they interact with teammates, coaches and the enemy. I look at Bowey, Spargs, Sparrow and JVR they all ooze confidence and know they belong whereas I look at Laurie and to a lesser degree Jordon and they look less at home. They both need to step it up a lot, talk more catch the coaches eye be a bit more daring.!!!

Well at this stage I reckon Blake Howes might get him as a player in the end  (perhaps a winger) and a half back is by no means an urgent issue with about half a dozen in the mix for our mids and smalls.

I would still watch Rosman over the next 2/3 years at Port as he may develop quickly there.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
