Definitely this.

Sorry, I could hardly give a [censored] about how much prime time our sponsors get or don't.  If they get the ultimate prime time of Grand Final day and all the subsequent promotional opportunities that come from a premiership, they should be pretty happy with that.

Our supporters that have rocked up week in, week out for years deserve to be looked after more than a bunch of corporates that have been on the ride for just the last few and will jump off whenever it suits them.

Being looked after is making a financial benefit as much as possible with the fixture. If is assumed that to allow  a Club to be more viable playing marquee snd prime times is a natural progression once a Club is successful.

Bring on the big prime time slots and make us Big like in the 50:60'd again.

We we're 5th biggest in AFL crowds in 2022  let's break into the top 4 of Coll Carlton Ess and Richmond on 2023.

With Optus Stadium likely unavailable for round 1, I wonder if that opens the door for a Luke Jackson grudge match at the G for round 1??

Be more exciting than a trip to Blundstone Arena.

I have one wish, that the AFL don't dribble out the fixture timeslots like last year. I tried to get to Alice for the game, by the time I actually knew what day it was being played on all the accommodation had gone and the airfares were 5 times the price.

What else but 22 games at the MCG on Saturday afternoons.

I know we have not played well at the G recently but, after a few games, we should be able to find our mojo and start to dominate at home.

Anything else is detrimental to our chances.

We don't need to play the Catty Putts at Geelong - we've done our apprenticeship in 'entertaining umpiring'. We do need to be granted the privilege of playing more games at our home ground in front of our own supporters (the ground where so many of our supporters attend when we are on that fixture). This has a double-whammy effect when we play as the away side to other co-tenants of our inherent home ground, and I like that outcome.

Melbourne V Ducking Dogs Rd1 MCG Sat 7:25pm.

Looks like we gonna be playing them twice a year like we did with the Saints 2015-2019.

Not 100% but pretty sure it will be the case.

Your just guessing FTB might be correct you have about a 33.3% chance as 6 out of 18 Clubs we play twice.

Care to predict some other morsels for us during 2023?

So your hoping he AFL take fans requirments into account then?

Their petty-mindedness, as evidenced by relasing Round 1 info around time of Aus V Argentina , doesn't fill me with confidence as to head office's mindset.

Good luck though. I'll be checking too.

I heard the AFL are releasing the exact times and dates of rounds 16-23 (not 24) in one hit, around the mid season point.

Take your condescension away thanks.

Playing a team in round 1 who we just played in a GF and with the AFL trying to build rivalries  leads to a fair chance that we will play them twice.

Take it to the bank that we will have the cats in Geelong and west coast in Perth as your morsels clever man.

Thanks BBP booked my flights today, would like to book accommodation at a couple of places around Alice, makes it difficult when you don't know the exact date of the game

I think you can make an educated guess for when the game is likely to be. Round 16 when we play the Giants in Alice Springs will be From Friday 30/6 until Sunday 2/7.

There about a 0.01% chance we will be playing the game on the Friday night. We usually play the games in AS during the day so it will either be Saturday 1/7 or Sunday 2/7.

The game against Port last year was on Sunday at 2:50pm.

2020 against the Saints was on a Saturday night in late August.

2019 vs WCE was on a Sunday afternoon in mid July

2018 vs Adel was also on a Sunday afternoon in late May

Thanks Andy, I also did the history thing and have booked from Weds to Mon, I will keep an ear to the ground for any official club events too. I also sent the AFL an email (doesn't hurt) to ask when they might release the times. I did have a fantasy of spending a night or two at the Ross River resort, which is why I am keen to know the dates. thanks for the response. (I love this site)

2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
