Anyone who went to the pre season game and witnessed Cripps absolutely destroy us would have seen that he had got his body right and was in for a huge season.

Yesย

ย

Joel Selwood barely got a vote.

Jeremy Howe no votes.

Bont just got 10.

West coast 15 votes for the whole team. Patheticย

My impression was the same. However, Neale actually got 29 possessions (2nd most on the field) and the highest AFL Fantasy Points on the ground (whatever that means).

Still, the game was set up in the 1st half and surely with an 11 goal lead at half time, Melbourne players should have been 3/2/1 in that game.

And Brayshaw nullified Neale, by running off him. Just no chance he deserved a vote.ย

Doesn't come across as arrogant. Maybe we could have had him to speak to LJ about living in Melbourne and dealing with it

My heart bleeds NOT

Agree. How much would it cost for an official investigation?ย

Cripps would even acknowledge within himself that he did not deserve that.ย

What a stitch-up. They even gave Neale 1 vote in the last gameย to make it appear closer. can think of 8-9 players that deserved a vote before Neale.ย

Joke.ย

We should all chip inย

I will say it again. I like Cripps. Heโ€™s a gun player and comes across well. I liked him saying that he had to work hard on public speaking. I think itโ€™s admirable to show vulnerability ย

I have no issues with him winning a Brownlow. I do have a real issue with him winning one when he very clearly should have been ineligible.ย

Really there could have been another 5 who won and you would say fair enough, but effin Cripps should have been gone for 2 weeks, he left his bloody feet and chose to bump. Cripps is a very bloody good footballer, just not a Brownlow Medalist.

Anyone who watched R21 vs Brisbane would know that he should have been ineligibleย

Thereโ€™s 2 big challenges for Clayton:

1. kick more goals and become more damaging with his disposals so that itโ€™s undeniable heโ€™s the best in the comp

2. get the umps on his side. Less back chat, less diving, less whatever it is he does to annoy them. He gets far fewer free kicks than he deserves and has consistently missed out on Brownlow votesย

AFL have Blood on their hands Disgraceful

3. The people that donโ€™t know footy as well (umpires) tend to favour Trac over Oliver in games when they both play well. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I love Trac, and know he is a gun. But I feel umpires/media slightly over-value Trac, and slightly under-value Clarry.ย

I'm sick of this stupid award. Midfielders and popularity contests all round. Cripps should have been rubbed out, Ah Chee was concussed. WHAT A JOKEย

The AFL/VFL circus commenced many moons ago IMV Layzie when it refused to rotate the Country Zones which they set up in early 1969ย using a lottery system.

Even though further 'rotation lotteries' every three years had been agreed to prior.

All downhill and "fixed" in various ways to produce 'preferred' outcomes thereafter.

The rorting has continued on its merry way ever since.

The ability for the best players to somehow find their way to clubs that have played finals and/or won a premiership (or more) in the year/s prior to them coming across just another example of how the system is far from kosher.

Was good seeing Jeremy Cameron poll well. Not meaning to be pro-cat just pro-votes for non-midfielders aha

Agree. Him and Shai Bolton are arguably the 2 most dynamic, game changing players that arenโ€™t midfielders.

Well, Oliver is still on target to have the most career Brownlow votes of anyone ever, so that's okay.

Agreed - Oliver's year this year was miles ahead of Trac's - certainly moreso than their Brownlow polling this year suggests.

True, but Petracca kicks goals (or points) or set them up directly with his kicking. The umps often like a bit of flashย

Exactly, he's a true professional and his career is worthy of a Brownlow but this one doesn't sit 100% rightย

Which is why we should care more about the coaches award, and not the umpires award.ย

He was a couple of votes from winning and played the second half of the year with a broken thumbโ€ฆ cool your jetsย

Neale got so many of his touches in junk timeย

I just don't know if the umpires really know how to run a medal award.

The Brownlow is not given to the best player of the year

its given to the best midfielder in a team that does not have other great midfielders. Eg Cripps, Neale, Wines, Priddis

i really donโ€™t understand the prestige around this award. Coaches award is a way more prestigious award imo

ย

We just need to stop caring about it. Vote with your remote controls

I actually think if the coaches votes werenโ€™t disclosed until the end of the year it would easily surpass the Brownlow in terms of interest and creditability.ย Itโ€™s only the suspense that makes it a spectacle.

Who thinks the umpires are the best judge of the game anyway? They arenโ€™t watching it - because of the pace of the game they are always trying to work to the next position to get the best perspective on infringements.

It seems strange we ask them to vote when the AFL goes out of their way to try and make them invisible.ย
