Jackson Callow was delisted by the Hawks a few weeks ago.

He will be a delisted free agent who I think the Demons should at least consider recruiting.

Was originally a Tasmanian who was overlooked in the draft and then played for Norwood in the SANFL.

He is a tall forward who is about 195-196cms in height and still only 20 years of age.

Was apparently a Melbourne Demons supporter as a kid growing up in Tasmania.

I don't know what his deficiencies are seeing as the Hawks did delist him.

However, I think he is worth another chance on an AFL list and we are desperate for young tall forwards to develop.

We should definitely look to recruit him and let him play in the forward line for the Casey Demons. That way we can watch him closely and see if he can make it on an AFL list ourselves.

Here is his highlights reel at Norwood playing for the Redlegs in the SANFL.

Here is Jackson Callow taking a massive mark at full speed while at Norwood.

Here are highlights of him playing in the Under 18s competition for Tasmania and NAB All Stars back in 2020.

Anyway, I hope MFC Recruiting Boss Jason Taylor has a look at possibly picking up Jackson Callow as a delisted free agent.

SD I know they are highlights, but he looks pretty impressive.

Wonder why Hawks delisted him.

They do have a lot of talls.

Given he made his debut against us this year as a 19yo key position, with a little ruck, it's surprising they didn't give him another year to develop.  I wonder if there were other issues. As daisycutter said, one grabber and lovely kick. Good start!

So DS he is carrying a pound or two ie fitness and athleticism a problem?

Looks worth a chance to rookie as he can be placed on a specific fitness program once our experts ( not DS) have had a look and done some research.

Does appear to do what Sam does not ie mark and kick goals !!!

You can’t just make a guy run faster and jump higher. If we could do that we’d start with half our own players

Jackson sustained a pretty serious ankle injury in his last game for Box Hill. He had surgery and is looking at 4 months of re-hab. In his position, this is a pretty significant hurdle for him.

What?

Edit: I assume you mean that his base level is so low that he will never make the level. Because your post is incorrect.

From memory, Callow was one of Knightmare’s big favourites but he missed out altogether in his draft year and was finally selected by the Hawks in the mid season draft of 2021. Was there a problem with him that led to him being overlooked by every club in 2020 and why was he discarded at the age of 20?

Hmmm....I did not know about this. Quite disappointing to hear that Jackson Callow has injured his ankle.

Nevertheless, I think that the Demons could at least offer him a rookie spot. He has shown he has the talent and I think he would provide a better option than Mitch Brown in the future.

Of course you can get moderate improvements but you can’t turn Luke Dunstan in to Clayton Oliver, nor can you turn Weideman in to Harry McKay or any other functional key forward.

Callow’s a smart footballer but pretty much  all his highlights are running in straight lines and barely jumping off the ground. Even his nice pack marks at sanfl or junior level aren’t cutting it at afl level.

Talls need to move like midfielders at ground level and compete with athletic freaks (some of them 2m+ tall) in the air.

I know nothing of Callow, but just saying that chubby young Clayton Oliver has been turned into elite Clayton Oliver.

I still think Jackson Callow is worth a 2nd chance.

I understand he is injured but we could always add him to our rookie list?

Would definitely be a handy replacement for Mitch Brown and we could see how he develops as a forward playing for the Casey Demons in the VFL.

Here is another highlights video when he was playing for North Launceston in his local Tasmanian football league back in 2019:

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
