Selwood meets Viney, I am so looking forward to us playing Geelong. There is a reason why the cats have them as a sponsor, they need a large supply of tidy whiteys before a Demons game.

Cats won't make it far enough to play us #straightsets  #homeandawayspecialists

More than happy for you to be right, I just think the Pies can't keep pulling this 'just in time' offense, whereas I think we have scars on Geelong in finals. Rohan and some other front runners just consistently fail in the finals furnace. Geelong Swans and maybe Richmond (who really must be congratulated for doing a Lazarus) are the only serious teams left everyone else is noise.

Brisbane can score quickly when they get a run on, they have a potent forward line, but rely on confidence. Start missing the gettable ones and they may be in trouble.

For the Tigers, it will be about scoring conversion efficiency after getting it in the 50.

When I've watched the Tiger's I get a feeling that some of there players aren't quite ready for AFL.

If Brisbane can absorb the pressure and hang in there when the Tiges are trying to force turnovers, they should win, unless the Tiges conterpunch well, after turnovers.

It's unlikely that Brisbane play a bad second half, which is what I've seen them do lately, due to it being a winner take all final. If Brissy get a good lead they will be hard to chase down.

I don’t understand the love for the Lions. 1 win from 5 finals over the last 3 years. At a guess their biggest win for the season would have been against the Swans in rd 7.  For all the talk about the no.1 scoring side and they can score quickly we need that to be broken down into games against other top 8 sides and those outside the 8, this would give a better indication of where they’re at. Brisbane is a good side but far from a great one and another disastrous finals campaign should see Fagan under the pump next year. I’m interested to see on Thursday night if their leaders in Neale, Zorko and Cameron continue to play for soft frees and hit the ground at the slightest bit on contact from a opposition player looking to tackle them, this was a sign of poor coaching/leadership and that they were clearly rattled before the game had even started. A lot of talk about Geelong’s form in the first week of finals yet Brisbane’s would be nearly as bad.

I don't.

The lions are a good team, who ran into a Demon juggernaut.

At home they will be too strong for the tigers.

For punters, the 2.18 for the lions to win is brilliant value.

Thanks for sharing binman. Yes Brisbane are indeed a good side but they seem  to drop games they should win.

I think the tigers will win in part  because our demolition of the lions on their own turf and tigers at present our the opposite with more confidence.

If the lions do get up it will be a close one nonetheless.

I'm looking forward to all the final match ups.  And it's great that they will all be played at the correct venues in that covid will not be deciding where they are played.

Especially us playing at the Mcg.

In a previous post I mentioned that that I was worried about Franklin...Papley....Heeney but I also forgot about Warner.

Had they smashed the Saints I'd be extremely nervous about losing this one.

Also there are a lot if Swans fans in Melb ( sth Melb supporters) so the crowd difference in our favour is never as big as it should be. Maybe a final back at the Mcg will change that.

Come on everyone....get to the game.

I  was thinking we really miss a 2nd tall but swans fwd line isn't that tall either.

Any thoughts on perhaps Adam T playing fwd or rotating him with Petty up there or is it too much of a risk?

Poor Bbb as the Lone tall is a big ask.Max up there to help doesn't instill too much confidence as his set shots are shocking. At least he can bring the ball to ground where our smalls can get to work.

I don't think they will play Tmac. That seems even riskier.

Perhaps it will come down to Fritta and Kozzie .

Maybe Anb and Spargo will kick a few each and Harmes too.

Also I'm pretty sure Melksham gets another gig so if he's on fire again it would be great.

I do think this will be a tough final but maybe with our double ruck combo and our wonderful mids we may just dominate the clearances and win from that.

Ps Maybe Franklin has already mentally checked out.

I hope the Lions lose just because of Zorko.

Also their confidence thanks in no small part to us is shot.

Liberatore out is huge for the Bulldogs.

Not sure they have another 'extractor' and they rely on him immensely to feed off to McCrae. Bontempelli and Smtih.

Good work Layzie we need your plasma. If Im banged up in a car crash I will be requesting it . Yours is probably both red and blue. The very best.

As for Cwood supporters donating,  we definitely need better screening protocols.

Eugenics is immoral but cwood fans are a whole different world and it's the only and proper place where one must draw a line.

Imagine a world full of toothless, neck tattooed,  married brother and sisters ( to each other). Where one must constantly have to endure a chant of of Cwood everywhere they go even when there is no football game.

I have to stop now, it's too frightening to contemplate.

Massive.

Only bont out would hurt their chances more given how important to their game plan libba is.

There is bit of irony this year with the bye.

A key reason it was brought in was to ensure all finals teams are as fresh as possible week on, and that players with niggles or injuries have another week to get up.

But this year two big stars  in Fyfe and Libba got injured at training and will miss maybe all the finals

The Zorko stuff is in their heads with him saying he will change his sledging attitude and keep his mouth shut. Changes this late in the season will upset the cart. His team-mates won't know where he is or they’ll think something is wrong, even on a subconscious level.

We did smack them around, they buckled, however with the bye they have time to reset. They have been a good team during the middle stages of the season. Whereas Richmond are finding their groove at the right end.

For Richmond to win I think Dusty has to play and Gotchin must lift, Bolton needs to be involved all the game and Tarrant has to play well (they have a shaky backline).

Should be a good game.

During the year when our forwards were struggling the mids kick plenty.

Our forward line is doing better now, so hopefully we get a good spread of scorers

Of course dusty is playing.

Great point, @binmanaround players getting injured at training in the week off possibly because of the need to do high intensity, sustained training to simulate a game BECAUSE of the week off…

And libba out is huge but they keep telling me how good that midfield is and they are about to pay the bloke that wanted to [censored] off to Essendon so let’s see it Bont/Treloar/Dunkley et al.

And I was a bit ambivalent about the pre-finals bye but now I just think it should be before the GF. With Tassie, teams will get a bye or two and teams can rest sore players anyway, and if any team wants to do what Freo did all those years ago - well done to them but I wouldn’t flirt with form by resting 10 players…

I agree, the bye should be before the GF if they want one.  Its all because of 1 coach years, who promptly lost the first final so it didn't work.  But it won't happen until Gill is gone as its his baby, but he is leaving.  playing straight up rewards those in the top 4.  IN saying that, we have a process in our preparation to deal with it.

As for out's, Dockers win over the big outs for them and the dogs.  Lots of Freo supporters don't want Fyfe back and hopes he leaves. They have success without him with the rising kids, they dont see how he fits in anymore.

Thanks Binman.

My family and I moved to North Wollongong about 10 years ago.

My daughter is in Melb this week and wants to know of a pub where there will be plenty of Dees fans watching the game on Friday.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

She's in Hawthorn but happy to go into the cbd.

Many tx.

Thanks Deever! Love doing it!

Yeah it's not a good parallel universe and not cool at all.

    GIANT HEADACHE by Whispering Jack

The crack in the captain’s ankle might be very small but the repercussions of the injury are enormous. The aftershock of the news that Max Gawn will sit on the sidelines for the next two or three weeks has provided Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin with a giant headache, not unlike the one he faced after the Kings Birthday when another Demon superstar Christian Petracca suffered his season-ending injury. That headache is magnified by the fact that Goodwin is facing a month of tough encounters a

    DERAILMENT by KC from Casey

It wasn’t quite a trainwreck although at times, it sure looked like one, so I’ll settle for “derailment”.  The trip to Brighton Homes Arena in Springfield outside the back of Brisbane might not exactly be the same place where Homer Simpson’s family resides but, if you listened closely to the utterances of the Casey Demons fans both at the ground or watching via livestream, you could hear lots of groaning and plenty of expressions of “D'oh!” reverberating in the background, particular

TEN YEARS AFTER by Whispering Jack

Things have changed in the more than ten years since the West Coast Eagles decimated Melbourne by 93 points on the MCG early in the 2014 season. The two sides had not met at the home of football in the interim until yesterday when Melbourne won by a comfortable 54 points to remain in contention for this year’s finals series. Back in those days, the Demons were in the midst of their Great Depression but they have since tasted premiership glory and experienced a long enough period among

GAMEDAY: Rd 17 vs West Coast

It’s game day and the Demons return to Melbourne to play the Eagles at the MCG for the first time in over a decade. A win keeps the Dees finals hopes alive whereas a loss will almost certainly slam the finals window shut.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b
