If you know, tell us? I want to know…if it’s 💯 truth, this site runs no risk of liability … tell us what you heard … or what you were told was said and by whom. The truth should come out of this. Brissy trying to sweep it under

The only person who loses out is Petty.
The sledge was private and personal and direct towards a family member. I doubt he wants that aired publicly. It does nothing but hurt him and his family more.

Just accept that what Zorko said was disgusting and that this pathetic apology from him and the Lions is why they’ll never win a flag with him as captain.

FFS. Cancel him? Can people not call someone out without the free speech brigade banging on about cancelling? No one's calling for Brown to be cancelled. People are merely pointing out he's a nuffy, who is part of the problem.

His comments were either poorly worded (so stand by them) or they were pathetic. He's paid big bucks to analyse football. If he can't string a sentence together properly that's his fault and needs to stand by his words.

He should be canceled because he is [censored] at his job.

This. ⬆️ Beautifully put. Better than I can manage right now having read some of the dinosaur posts. Thank you Jaded.

They need to give us some idea of the sledge.

Spectators can be barred from games, with the AFL not holding back on what was said.

The players are schooled about what is ok. The audiences are not, nor do they have any support.

If they out audiences, then, out those who are supposed to be educated and with support, the offender must stand to public opinion.

So in my mind I speculate, sexist comments would be front and centre (mum, sister, an LBGTQIA), or disability, or maybe a family member dealing with an illness.

The only person in the crowd who might’ve been unfairly outed was the girl with Adam Goodes. She probably should’ve known better anyway, but once it was a known to be a kid everyone backed off the individual.

If Petty and the club choose to deal with this privately then we have to respect that.

The list of topics that you can’t go near in the crowd is really straightforward and everyone knows it. Don’t be racist, sexist, homophobic, ableist or attack peoples families covers most of it.

I don't want the verbatim, would like to know what frame of reference.

I would assume the Brissy player falls into the criteria we all know not to offend with.

Reference Twitter

Seems to be convergence on one main version

Pretty ordinary thing to say, but I'm a bit surprised at the reaction it got to be honest

I'd cancel just because of his mug.

Good call. For it to be front and centre in the media would probably just add to his pain.

Well said Jaded.

I forgot he was Captain. Talk about hard up for choices.

There are multiple stories online about what was alleged to be said. They're probably all made up.

It doesn't matter. It's abundantly clear that Zorko said something strongly offensive.

Zorko's a [censored] and deserves not a shred of sympathy from anyone. When you play your entire career like a dog, then you do something like this, you deserve to be called out for what you are.

Hopefully it finishes Zorkos career - what a despicable grub.  He was sniping & provoking all night after he realised he couldn't get a kick.

Well done Dees to keep their eye on the ball.

When Robin Smith was taking guard and Rod Marsh (?) remarked on his increasing girth, he replied “Yeah cos every time I xxxx your wife she gives me a biscuit.”  When Jonny Bairstow was taking guard, David Warner asked he’d like some rope.  There is a difference.

If Zorko’s sledge was as rumoured, it was pre-meditated and designed to hurt.  To make it towards the end of the third quarter with your team 70 points down was the desperate act of a lowlife waste of oxygen.

Anyway, just settling down to watch the replay again - already laughing at Mathieson in the tunnel before the game clearly having worked himself into such a hyped-up frenzy that he was incapable of playing football.

So Petty, the club and the AFL are accepting of Zorko's apology and consider the matter resolved. Richo indicated Petty was keen to move on and not have further details made public

Out of respect to Petty and his family, is there a valid reason we still have this thread open?

No offence to the guy (just like he probably meant no offence to Petty) but it's my belief that he's the weakest skipper in the competition.

And I reckon we have the best. Look at the temperaments between the two.

I hope Max is around for a while but I wonder who our next captain will be. It will be a tough act to follow Layzie, that's for sure.

Well just checked the time and realised it's past Makers Mark on ice. Silly me.

Good night chaps.

Tx for the chats and news.

Very hard act to follow Deever, we've been blessed.

We've got the right people waiting in the wings though and Mr Lever's case gets better each week.

Lol, Adelaide news: South Australian Harrison Petty was sledged by Lions Captain Dane Zorko......

They need to have an angle they are reporting on an incident that wasn't related to the Crows or the Power.  The fact that it's a national game seems to have escaped their small-town myopia.

Dayne Zorko won’t be punished by AFL over sledge which left Harrison Petty in tears.

Probably the right result.  It would have served no purpose to bring up the evidence in a tribunal hearing.  Having said that Zorko won't escape punishment - he'll be forever tarnished as a result of his comments and treated accordingly by all opponents that would be well aware of the comments.  He'll be treated for  the grub that he is.

I really like Chris Fagan, and I know he has limited options, but surely Zorko cannot be captain of that club after this season with behaviour like that.

Wayward kicking for goal, dump kicks inside 50 and some baffling umpiring all contributed to the Dees not getting out to an an early lead that may have impacted the result. At the end of the day the Demons were just not good enough and let the Hawks run away with their first win against the Demons in 7 years.

Round 9 kicks off out west with the Dockers hosting a Collingwood side resting several stars. Fremantle need to make a statement on their home deck after some disappointing form on the road, while the Magpies will be keen to maintain their Top 2 position. Friday night sees a must-win clash between two sides desperate to stay in touch with the eight. St Kilda have shown glimpses while Carlton are clinging to relevance after a flat start to the season. Saturday’s twilight game at Marvel pits the Bombers against a struggling Sydney outfit. The Bulldogs have hit their stride with three big wins on the trot and will be very keen to consolidate on their momentum. The always fiery Showdown looms as pivotal for both clubs.
