Will be watching Harmes energy levels and ability to run out a full game closely. Surprised to say the least given he played an entire VFL game 5 days ago.

Stunning.

….and maybe, just maybe TMac may just be an outside chance in a few weeks.  Not sure if this is wishful thinking on my part, but I live in hope.  GO DEES!

I can see him training with them and offering leadership. Making the team with no game fitness would be a big leap of faith.

Dees odds have shortened since teams were announced.

Punters must rate Harmes impact on Neale, no other explanation.

They haven’t changed materially anywhere, Dees we’re into 1.96 with Sportsbet this morning.   Harmes being named to sit on Neale isn’t going to shift the market - odds can often change as teams are announced because that’s when the markets only start to become liquid (just the bookies’ guess before that).

Jordan covered 14.6 km last week, our 3rd highest, including 2.6 km at high speed (over 18km per hour), our 2nd highest.

Ok so maybe he just isn’t good enough to stay in the best 22. Gave him the benefit of being under an injury cloud.

Game will be decided the same way every other AFL game is decided: pressure on the player with the ball. If we bring our A level pressure and force their inside 50s to be haphazard and landing 40+ metres out, we will be fine. If we let them walk across and up the field towards our folded back zone, and they get their entries within 35 metres then we're dead ducks. There's no way we can handle all of Rayner, Cameron, McCarthy and Bailey if it's played on their terms.

Sparrow and Spargo are incredibly lucky. They've been far worse and non existent then Jordon.

Spargo gives bugger all, slow, doesnt get enough of it and hardly hits the scoreboard. Dont give a stuff about his percieved forward pressure. SMITH would have been a much better bet up forward to assist BBB

50 th games for rivers and jackson

And for Tayla Harris!

Incidentally, we just made both banners (men’s and women’s) and it made me a little sad cutting out and sticking down Luke’s name. I don’t hold any hope of him staying. 😞

I feel more confident and relaxed when Spargo has the footy than any other Melbourne player as his disposal and decision making is first rate.  Having said that, it would be nice if he got more of it.

Hopefully he can snag a few this week. Only needs one good game for the tide to turn I reckon.

He missed the  2 weeks prior though, I guess that's why he had a full game at Casey.

...but will be an interesting watch none the less.

What does Dean Kent got do with Teams R23 team v Brisbane ?  Get on the St.Kilda website you people .

News report we are adding grunt to our team by including Harmes. Have I missed something we didn't need grunt because Harmes played for Casey !!!! This team is more vanilla than vanilla (poor comparison I suppose ) , we don't have any aces up or sleeve i.e Joel Smith  or JVR . We will get done . Maybe we should offer Hird a an assistant coach position, actually Hird has more of a footy brain than Goody.

Van Rooyen had 8 disposals and kicked one point at VFL level last weekend.

Good to see Harmes back a long as he does an effective job on Neale. With Neale attending the center bounces I can see us starting with Petracca at HF and Viney and Brayshaw in the center bounces with Harmes. not the worst setup.

For Jordon's wing position we have a few that can cover there. Melksham has been named there but I do not see that as a full time gig for him tomorrow night. might have a bit part there but ANB might spend more time in that position and depending on defensive matchups I would give Rivers a spell there as well. Hunt I would try to keep in defense as we are getting god run for there with him.

I see a win from the Demon Road Warriors..... Bad luck Lions.....

I reckon we should give that red head a go in the centre bounce occasionally.  Clayton something is his name I think.

Seriously though, I think it will be Gus back to the wing.  If not him, then Spargo who played on Langdons wing when he missed those games earlier in the year.

Hunt, Spargo, Harmes, ANB, Rivers, Sparrow

Need a big game from our bottom 6 this weekend. Hunt had a fantastic last quarter last week. Hope he can take a bit of confidence coming into this game.

They have the most potent forward 6 in the comp. Weapons in the air and on the ground. We cannot let this become a shootout otherwise we stand very little chance. Keep overall pressure up at the source and we will get the game on our terms.

This will be a harder game to win than most people think.

Hmmm   Harmesy brings added aggression and will tag Neale. Jordon has had a good year and his kicking is an asset.  But he does slow the movement of the footy.  We might push Brayshaw to the wing given plenty of cover across the half back line.

No. We know it’s very very tough. They are a 6-7 goal better team at the Gabba. It’s going to be a finals atmosphere.

Lions have won 9 from 10 home games in 2022

Lions have won 35 out of last 37 home games in the regular session.  That’s a massive home ground advantage.

When was the last time we beat them at the Gabba … ???

Could be right about the ginger nut.....

There is a bit on here re Spargo but I think he has been ok in his role. Tackles well and mostly nails his tackles. When he gets the ball he uses it well with measured kicks. I would like to see him kick a few more.... you never know....maybe this week.

Do not see him spending much time on the wing. I think he is a tad slow for that position and a bit short. can imagine the opposition coach looking for a tall, marking player for him if he is plonked out there.

No matter who plays there I hope he does his job and keeps his width. I have found it noticeable that our wings mostly stay and play very wide on the wings.
