There’s a fair bit of young talent in the Casey side today. Turner, van Rooyen, Wowoedin, Bowey, Laurie and Howes returning.

After a week of sunny days I wake to rain. Looks like my visit to the Scray is off. Laptop will be the back up viewing. Pity as I was looking forward to going to the game. IMO there is no substitute for going to the footy.

Also, very close to train station.

Don't forget folks, it's West Footscray station, not Footscray.

I clearly remember the jubilation at the station and on the train after we won that game in 1987 to make the finals!

Even Middle Footscray is really close if you're heading to the Vic for a pint first. Before they moved West Footscray station a few years back on a six carriage train when the back carriage left one the front carriage arrived in the other.

32 degrees, humid as hell and bright sunshine here in equatorial Asia.

Kayo have blocked my VPN so I look forward to my occasional VFL fix on the dodgy stream. I have 500Mbs up and down so it isn't my end methinks.

Not sure how much of the old Western Oval remains. It was always a bit of a concrete jungle. Wonder if they serve any notable culinary delights a la Port Melbourne with the Burra burger and the king sized dim sims.

Enjoy your day OD

I just drove past Whitten Oval and it looks as though we won't face much opposition today.

Me too  pure elation.

The game has started with conditions greasy under cloudy threatening skies. The Demons have made a few changes as a result of the withdrawal of Ben Brown and his replacement  with Sam Weideman. Toby Bedford and Adam Tomlinson have been held back for tonight’s game. for our Demons today – Riley Baldi, Bryce Milford and Aidan Quigley are the replacements.

Both teams are struggling to open the scoring with the Bulldogs favoured by the breeze.

And once again the afl site stream for this game does not work

It is working for me

1 minute ago, whatwhat say what said:

amz could've gifted a goal to jvr but couldn't hit the target

speaking of which - jayden hunt; beautiful reader of the play, fantastic speed...can't hit a pass to save hisself

Should have been a walk in goal for JVR but delivery was not there

A good day for Ducks OD.... and i dont mean Disco 'Duck' Turner.

Also annoying that you can no longer livestream to chromecast (via TV) like previous seasons.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
