Sydney is armed with picks No.21 and No.29

They'd have to give us both of those picks

As I previously stated we should demand Amati plus their first draft pick if Brodie requests a transfer  discussed BUT AGAIN has Grundy STATED HE WANTS TO LEAVE No?

I rest my case

He's professional so regardless of the behind the scenes manoeuvring I wouldn't expect any such statement by Grundy until our season is over.

Yep, he doesn't want to be the no 1 ruckman in the VFL.  He goes to Sydney is the No 1 ruck and good luck to him.  Just give us a blinder on Friday night and help us beat the blues

Not sure resting your case wins the debate. 😜😜

Season 4 Episode 21 GIF by The Simpsons

Tom Morris can buzz off. He has lost all credibility in my view. In fact most of the media are scumbags!

We're actually going to really need Brodie Grundy this week if Max Gawn "allegedly" has a broken toe.

Fingers crossed we can get this ruck duo to work for the next 3 games in this finals campaign. 🤞

Does Grundy actually want to leave?

I reckon his time as the #1 ruck at the Dees will come sooner than what people think

Gawn may have 1 legit season left if his body cannot cope anymore

And if it works in the next 3 games why not beyond???? Reckon Brodie has shown his class throughout all that has transpired for him this year. Proud to have him as a Demon.

Damn.  I was hoping for a bidding war

He's contracted, we don't need a bidding war. We have every right to hold him to his contract if we don't get what we want.

I hope it doesn't mean one more  legitimate chance at a premiership

One of the worst list management decisions of recent times.

I’d rather leave him at the pies to bleed their salary cap for the next 5 years

I agree with that. Let him stay at Melbourne. We need a back up ruckman. He can stay and not go to Port Adelade

But if the club needs the draft picks a bidding war would be good

Possibly if we don't recruit better next season

Bidding wars rarely happen and would only be the case in free agents.

Once Grundy nominates a club, looking like Sydney, we'll negotiate with them alone.

We do slightly hold the whip hand though in that we can keep him to our contract if we aren't happy with the compensation. All in all I think we move him on and we utilise the extra draft capital to have a crack at Gold Coasts pick 4.

And Sydney are desperate for a No.1 ruckman.

They hold picks 11, 22, 30, 41.

I highly doubt they give us 22. We should go for Picks 30 + 41 (points equivalent to late 1st round pick)

We can then trade 24,30,34,41 (2368) to GC for Pick 4, whilst retaining Pick 15. What people don't talk about is the power we will have over GC. We can call in all of their Academy picks at pick 5, costing them more points than they would have planned for. We could use this force them to trade with us over say a Bulldog's.

This leaves us with 4,5,15 in this years draft (before any compensation)

Options from here:

1. Take 4+5 to either WCE  for Pick 1

2. Take 5+15 to Hawks for Pick 3.

3. Take 4+15 to North for Pick 2

4. Take them all to the draft.

Hope Grundy stays. I think at times this year he struggled with endurance, maybe his injured 2022 season had something to do with it.

With another MFC preseason under his belt, I can't see how the Grawndy duo won't work.

I agree a full preseason under his belt and who knows what we might have.

I think pick 22 for Grundy is fair. I don't think GC will swap pick 4 for those NQR picks. Holding clubs over a barrel never works out into the future. Just look at Peter Bell.

That's exactly right. Good players nominate a club and off they go. Grundy will tell us who he wants to go to, and we will try to get the best possible deal for ourselves, while not actively trying to screw over Grundy because we are not Essendon.

We will get it done, but it will be on our terms, or we will be happy to keep him.

We gave up pick 27 for him last year. Unfortunately after a bit of haggling I think we'll only get Pick 40 back from Sydney. He's a year older.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
