I don't think any clubs leak, but Player Agents have family, friends and contacts in the media. And divulging potential player movements prior to Trade Week doesn't haven't any impact on the end result.

I'm afraid that there will be no Big Fish landed. Maybe some guppies.

You're very negative aren't you?

Absolutely not enough. We need pacey ball users. The players we are likely to lose need replacing with more quality, otherwise this list will completely plateau. We did not better the list last year, we need to this year. Grundy alone does not address one single issue we had this year.

Completely plateau 🤦🏼‍♂️

Trac, Oliver, Petty, Kozzie, Spargs, Sparrow, Rivers will plateau, will they? None of these players are yet to hit their peak.

Negative a.f

Anyways, there’s this weird thing going on in this thread that people buy into that if it’s not in the media overtly then nothing is happening?

Why do folk believe that the absence of reporting infers the absence of enquiry and that we (just like every other team) are looking at improving the list whilst trying to balance - $, roles that people will play, attributes, values etc etc with what the club wants vs what the individual desires… it’s just happening in the quiet (as it is with 90% of convos)

I can’t imagine Nippy only received a call in the last 3 weeks from WCE… can you?

This happens every year on Demeyland.

If the media doesn't link us to 3 or 4 players on the market, it means we're not looking at anyone.

Grundy is a very big fish if he lands...

I hope Kozzie Spargo  Sparrow and Rivers are a long long way from their peaks because they weren't much help this season

A 40 goal forward in his third year was not much help? FMD.

Hmmm. Freo will finish top 8 again so it’ll be a late first rounder you’d think. It feels the point value is still unders.

I wouldn't be so sure.

Can see Freo missing next year given the amount of best 22 players they're about to lose plus Mundy.

They had a dream run with injuries most of the year, (bar Fyfe who is past his prime) and will also have a much more difficult draw next year.

In my eyes they'll be the most vulnerable of this years top 8. Can see them finishing as high as 7th and as low as 10th.

So if we get a future first round pick for Jackson, I'd be quietly confident it'll end up being a top 11 pick which will be great for next year's bumper crop. Plus we'll have our first rounder so will have a bit to play with.

Pick 7 for Lobb and change.

Pick 7 to dees with Freo 1st for Jackson.

Funny how it all works out.

If it pans out like that I'd say the deals were  done a while ago.

You might be right CS.  Wouldn't be terrible for us given next years draft is "reportedly" stronger than this years and as others have noted, there's good reason to think Freo will slip a bit next year.

If that does play out (we get pick 7) it will be interesting if we try to move further up the order - if we do it will suggest we have our eye on someone at the pointy end.

He still didn't take mark of the year, try as he may.

A lot of room for improved and effected consistency .

I concede I marked him hard...

I  concede a little on Kossie but do you think the others had good seasons...cobber

Were you the one that said early days in the finals that Geelong and Collingwood were crepe and the Dee's would walk right through them?

Or are you just one of the duffers who can't see the difference between supporting and ignoring the obvious?

....cobber

We do, but everyone does.

Our boys gave everything and then some this year. If ‘supporters’ aren’t happy, blame the coaches not the players.

Whilst all other potential trades are out in the open, we're secretly hiding some blockbuster move. Yeah right.

And I'm sure you were one of those that didn't believe that Jackson was leaving.

We usually have no surprises so as far as trades go it's Grundy.

No other blockbuster move.

The big issue is what we get for Jackson and how much we give for Grundy.

I would expect there to be nothing else for us in trade week.

...but

If you read the tea leaves, it's sounding like Brad Scott will be the Bombers Coach and probably announced soon.

If he says he wants it, the process just flew out the window.

IMO, Yze had the job, unless Scott said he would do it.

Ethan the news breaker gazumped again. Where were you and what are you doing?

You can’t have old Redleg continually beating you to the news. We know you are the best, so pull your finger out.

And that's exactly what I said, and for some reason was called "negative".

I'm sure we'll be involved with some draft pick swaps, which will get some Demonlanders excited.

I don't think I had a strong opinion on it actually.

What an absolute farce.

Scott has interview today and appointed later the same day.

Why have a Coaching Committee? Just appoint the first senior Coach who is prepared to do the job.

Complete joke and waste of time for people like Yze and other applicants and probably a distraction for their clubs as well.

The media hype will now kick in.

I was of the view that they are on the upward trajectory and would push for top 4 next year.

But you make a good points about the players they will lose.

Lobb is flakey, but he is important structurally and was their best tall forward.

And mundy, even at his age, was super important because, one he gets the pill and two they lack big bodied mids.

The other thing is I wonder if beinging Jackson in on mega coin might create problems in the playing group.

I'm tipping the pies to miss the 8.

Where you are seen as negative is not seeing Grundy as a big fish.

He is and it is a blockbuster move to get him.

I think that's exciting.

I also think it more than interesting to see where our draft hand finishes up.

The main issue i have at the moment is that i am not seeing any other conversations or rumors about melbourne chasing any other players, with a league of 17 other teams of maybe 40 players each we only have one target?

Last year, there were 10 players who changed clubs*. No club traded in more than one player, and around half the clubs didn't trade in anyone. If we trade in even one player, we're already batting above average. Further, that that player is someone of Grundy's calibre is a huge tick for the club.

* And half of those traded players had been delisted, so you'd be taking a punt on them.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
