Today is the 64th anniversary of Melbourne’s 1960 premiership - its 11th flag. The victory against Collingwood was achieved in pouring rain with the Pies held to the lowest grand final score in VFL/AFL history 2.2.14 to the Demons’ 8.14.62. A fortnight earlier, they kept Fitzroy to four goals.

We all remember what happened three years ago but here’s one from 70 years ago and while it was a loss, it sparked off a magnificent run of premierships over the next decade …
