Demons vs Dockers - Sunday at the MCG - DO OR DIE!!!

I am already pumped about this game!!!

At round 4, it could almost be considered an Elimination Final for both teams. Very hard to make the Finals after being in an 0-4 hole, and that is what both clubs are facing. Amazing considering both teams were touted as flag contenders pre-season

I genuinely think we will win this game. If the boys aren't fired up to do dome DAMAGE, then they may as well all retire.

Danger man is obviously Pavlich, but we cant forget Tarrant who has torn us apart in the past.

Carroll should be sent to Tarrant to get inside his head. Pavlich? Possibly Cameron Bruce, or Rivers if fit.

THIS GAME IS HUGE!!!

Dees still without a host of stars - Robbo, Neitz, McLean, Bartram. Will Moloney play?

Fremantle will miss Farmer and Headland.

My tip - Demons to finally get down to business, and win by 31 points.

Terrific to see your attitude is better this week YM!! I too think we have a terrific chance of winning this game, and all Melbourne supporters should get to the 'G on Sunday arvo and support your team. Make the MCG a sea of red and blue and fire the boys up.

I think Carroll should get first crack at Tarrant, as he is well suited. If Tarrant is killing him, Bruce has done the job before. Rivers to get Pavlich, possibly PJ in a surprise move.

My prediction - T. Johnstone 3 votes and Melbourne to win by 27 points.

Bruce may get tarrant...Brucey has played on key forwards before..i.e brad johnson altho he is a bit smaller, but more dangerous. All the supporters lets get down there and show our support is still with the boys..nothing worse than playing in a game at an empty mcg.

I'm not letting myself entertain the thought of a win.

I think that once again a lot will depend on team selection, and who is available.

If we lose Moloney, and don't regain at least one of Pickett or Sylvia, we're in serious trouble.

Rivers is also a must.

I'll be there... I always am. Just hope we get a happy ending this week!

:( I, too, will be there again. I had a 'feeling' we'd beat Geelong. We didn't. I'm sure I'll be yelled at again at the game by demon supporters for daring to once again criticize ND, the lack of brains trust, effort, game plan, leadership, skill, etc. I'll still turn up full of eternal hope - only to see it dashed yet again. As it has been for the last 43 years. But what the hell, unlike most of you, I've seen this club win premierships and actually have a winning culture. Yes - I know it's hard to believe - but this club once had a winning culture. That was before it thought that mediocrity should be forever rewarded. In the days when the players played for the jumper and each other - and actually had some pride in themselves as a TEAM. When the board (as vile as it was) expected results - and not just hoped for survival. When supporters wouldn't settle for the players just turning up. And so on.

Just heard on the news that T Johnstone has a broken hand - will he play? Moloney's OP flaring up again - Will he play? Hopefully some inclusions can replace them.

I can't choose Melbourne to win this one. You're all brave & optimistic just like I was before we played Geelong. If anyone watched the Eagles/Dockers game last week you will realise how well Fremantle played. It could be very ugly.

BUT I WILL BE THERE AS ALWAYS.

I certainly give us more chance than I gave us against the cats. The only reason I have any hope? The Demons and Dockers have easily been the two softest teams of the year, given their lists and experience. The only reason we're any chance at all is not how well we play, but how badly they play. Also, unlike the Cats, Saints and Hawks they don't know a lot about the G.

Their form at the 'G' is pathetic. Unfortunately this year, so is ours.

Miller was pretty good on Pav when we played Freo at the 'G last year. Most of Pavlich's possessions were out wide and on the wings (similar to where Miller gets many of his :P). White did a good job of getting back to plug the gap.

However we'll probably need Mille rup forward given our injury woes.

Unfortuently Freo's recent form says otherwise:

Round 15 2006 - beat Collingwood

Round 7 2006 - Lost to Melbourne

Round 19 2005 - beat Collingwood

Round 16 2005 -beat Carlton

Round 6 2005 - beat Melbourne

The actually play the MCG far better then Telstra Dome.

This is the danger. If Rivers doesn't come up, Tarrant and Pavlich will cause real problems.

Obviously Carroll will take one of them, most likely Tarrant, but if PJ plays on Pavlich, I'm making Pavlich captain of my Dream Team. It could get ugly.

Des Headland, Josh Carr, Andrew Browne, Brett Peake, Michael Johnson & Farmer all out for Freo gives Melbourne a chance.

Our backline will never win us matches, at best they can just hold a team. We have to win it in the midfield and start delivering the ball forwards with some accuracy. I give us only a 30% chance of winning this week, I am not sure we have seen the worst of this bad run yet. A win would be fantastic but I really thought they would make a stand against Geelong and they did not. With more injuries our only hope is that some incusions can spark the team.

Well to be honest i would get Miller back. Get him on Tarrent and drag Pav up the ground by placing Bizzell on him. Instruct Biz to tag. Thats it. Just stay on the man. Dont run off him at all and get Wheels and Ward to do the running. Farmer was an issue, now he isnt. I would possibly even double team Pav or Tarrent. I dont want carroll on tarrent or pav. He is too slow for Tarrent and too unmobile for Pav

My team, and I spent ages looking and changing it - + watching bits of our last 3 games

B: Wheels Miller Carroll

HB: Yze Bizzell Brown

C: Godfrey McDonnald Bell

HF: C.Johnson Ferguson Pettard

F: Davey Green White

R: Johnson Bruce Jones

I.C: Jamar, Ward, Bate, Buckley

Emm: Garland, Holland, Newton

Went and watched Freo play the Bombers at Telstra Dome and noticed the following: -

they are unaccountable - they allowed their players to zone off, run harded to contests and generally be loose

No Josh Carr, no Des Headland, no Jeff Farmer - so that is a good start!!

If they persist with Gilmore then we should win - he turned it over so many times the other week...

Longmuir always presents trouble... can a Ben Holland do the job?

Carroll will get Pavlich - did a pretty good job in the final last year and is also tending to play closer to goal

Rivers should get Tarrant - playing more as the centre half forward

we need to win the midfield - make smart decisions and play as a team..

i rate our chances but have so every weekend except for geelong...

perhaps the challenge of a man behind the ball, playing man on man may well have assisted the players find some rythym!!

Plus, Freo will have a very disrupted week leading up to this game. The Headland saga will take focus off the job at hand, and I'm sure they will contest the Josh Carr suspension.

Add this factor to the number of players they are missing, plus their own bad form, and despite Melbournes absentees, the Demons are a big chance.

I think we have a good chance if:

* We play smart footy. Kick long not short.

* Play Ferguson CHF. I recon he could be ok there.

* Play Biz with Pav and instruct to tag...thats it. dont run off the ball. tag like never before

* Play Wheatley and Carroll on Tarrent. Double team him

* Play Jamar forward pocket. If not work around half time then lets go small - ie Davey, Pettard, Green, C.Johnson

* And play Buckley

Yep..had a look at the stats and quite right BBP. House & land package on Freo.

they were terrible against us last year....

medhurst put on a display!!

headland is one of the most over rated players running around!!

And neither of them will be playing for Fremantle this week, so I'm not sure where you are coming from.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
