Gandalf, I was an armchair member too because we generally can never get to games. I rang the membership department and they suggested I upgrade to a 3 game membership. Difference was only $30 and that was the same amount I saved on my seat ($20 for me and $50 for my wife as a guest). All sorted within half an hour once I got through. Might be a good way to beat the rush on the morning.

Thanks LFS, noted for the future.  Thankfully there were no hassles this morning at 10.05am.   I now have two tickets in Bay 49 and can't wait to get there :)

I don't know exactly how the numbering works but we got cracking front seats in Q50

Just booked my tickets for Round 3 vs Essendon.

AFL reserve level 1, level 2, and most of level 4 is allocation exhausted.

recommend booking your tickets for that asap. Could be the biggest crowd of the season up to that point of we both start undefeated.

Mods @Demonland can we change this to a general tickets thread?

If you have a GA membership or AFL Membership without a reserved seat I strongly suggest you book your Round 3 vs Essendon seats asap.

AFL members has a few rows of tickets left on level 1 outside and level 4 front row but beyond that it's full. Four weeks out from the match itself. Could well be 70k+ if both teams start strongly.

1 day. 9 hours and 42 minutes before I can get my seat. Just bring back the membership cards.

Forgive me if previously mentioned.

Is main the reason for the app bar code as opposed to a bar code on the old membership card for contact tracing, if that makes sense?

Or is the AFL just trying to move ticketing onto smart phones for data?

The latter!

That is the bonus for them, but it creates a nightmare for people who don't have smart phones, disabled or just people trying to organise multiple tickets for family who have to set up individual accounts with Tickemaster/tek just to get the tickets and seats they have paid for.

BUT the other advantage is that if there is a revival of COVID restrictions, they can limit the numbers attending since they no longer have a ticket which entitles them to admission.

Anyone else not seeing the barcode in the app?

When I click on 'View Barcode' it goes to the next screen but it is blank.

Trying not to panic...🥴

Right I will give it a go.

It worked on mine. However when I screenshotted it it said it would not get me into the game so have to put it on google  pay. I think that is tihsllub.

they've now got it so that, as an afl member, i can log into the 'afl membership' page that ticketmaster manages

click on any of the games tho... "try again, something went wrong"

Many Thanks.  Just tried it again and it worked.  Phew!

The last part of your post is well beyond my phone technical capabilities...

A silly question will a photocopy of the screen with the barcode work when scanned?

Probably not. I think the best way is to just log into the app and use the one provided in the app. This is plain out silly I know. A screenshot is the same as the barcode provided so I can't see the difference.

It did last year….it’s the only option for people without phones. Someone else has to print it out for them.

Thanks, I photocopied the mobile phone screen showing the barcode.  Really just for backup, in case something goes wrong at the gate.

Wednesday night is going to be a disaster trying to get in. Expect huge queues of older people/people without phone/disabled folks having lots of issues

there will be around 20K to see the flag unfurled at this rate

And all the young/middle aged people who haven't read the instructions 🙂

Indeed! Me included! 🙂

I’m not in the young group either

So we're flying out of the mudhole that is northern NSW for the game. We're looking forward to taking a break after the last two weeks.

We've got our barcodes for GA but no seat allocation by the looks.

There's no way to book your seats by the looks. Just rock up and grab a set anywhere in GA. Is that how it works?

I was wondering what happens if it's a sell out?

Very unlikely to be sold out.  GA members can sit in any unreserved area (which is likely to be in the upper seats).  (Edit:  for the GA unreserved areas not in the rafters see @FearTheBeard's post a few down from this one).

GA members can upgrade and get a reserved seat via ticketek for a small fee $11 to $21 depending on area.

This can be done via Ticketek website or the mfc app.

Tip 1:  Ticketek will ask for a membership barcode number(s) which can be found in the 'Ticket Details' section of your mfc app.

Tip 2:  Ticketek has a time limit before shutting you out so have all the info ready before starting.

… or you can do as I did and totally balls things up for a not so small fee of $63.45. 😑

iirc you wanted a ticket rather than an 'upgrade, to be on the safe side.

Maybe my comms weren't very clear..🤔

Hopefully, the above post can give you peace of mind and save you a few dollars for future very popular games.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
