ND should at least do the right thing by supporters and pick Pettard.

Unfortunately, ND will be ND.

Pettard will be emergency for another 6-8 weeks.

No Sylvia? I'm completely dumbfounded. I'm lost for words, I can't understand why he wouldn't be selected after last week's showing at Sandy and the massive number of holes in the side. Hmph. I hope Petterd plays.

Yze, yep, I'm sure he's learned from his one game for Sandy.

So let's get this straight, the ins are:

Bizzell, Yze, P.Johnson, Ferguson, Petterd

I feel sick.

[it is a pretty experienced team on the whole. We have been saying that we now have depth and are ready to challenge, now it is time to see how much we do have. I just want to see comitment and some direct football.

For Christ's sake, let's start the campaign.

Play Sauntner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why all the ridicule at Wheatley lined up at CHB? When Holland and Carroll generally take the two talls (FF/CHF), yet all through last year they were generally always listed as BP/FB.

Like another poster said, here's our 'depth' that some Demonland visitors have been keen to play up in the past year or so.

I've seen better spines on invertebrates.

The only team that could lose to a line-up like that (missing 3 absolutely critical players - Rivers, McLean and Neitz) is...well...Melbourne. Geelong would be a close second though; they are also masters of losing the unloseable.

To be any chance, we need to reduce it to a hard-fought, scrappy contest and I agree with Jaded's forward structure. Open it up and play someone like Green or Yze from the goalsquare. Delivery inside 50 will be critical to small leading forwards.

Lets see how they line up. Who knows, maybe Fergie at FF, or Pettard?? Just because the team sheet says this, doesn't mean they will front like this. I would hope that there is a real reason for Sylvia not being out there, as it sounds like he put his case strongly at Sandy last week.

The middle is the key. We could have Humphrey bear (or Barry Hall, they look the same) taking screamers at FF if we get it out and pump it long. If we play sideways or backward football, the backline can't hold the tide, the forwards dont have a chance to get free and we will be totally done by the cats.

This week will be a test of the honesty and pride of the demons list on the park, and their coach. Lets get behind them and see if they can prove us right, or wrong.....

If delivery into the forward line is going to be critical we are absolutely screwed!

Oh Jeeeez we are in a shed load of trouble.

Humphrey BB could struggle with the Paws in the back interpretation.

He's a funny Old fella

I wouldn't mind seeing a bit of spine with the supporters...

Reckon they are all crowing over at the Geelong supporters website. What say we just support the team and scream our heads off. Sure on paper it looks hopeless, but how many times have we seen the understrength team get up? It's not the final straw for me if they don't play Sylvia, or they do play Yze or Danners has a brain fade, what is getting close to a final straw for me is the continious stream of negativity.

Go Dees!

The team's picked & there is nothing we can do about it now, although I too reckon Sylvia was a certainty. Lets just get behind them now & support them. I've resigned myself to the fact that this is it & whats done is done.

The side is very experienced & dont mind it. Looking forward to a good contest.

Yeah, and he gets into all manner of strife, but the fun-loving Demons will have their hands full on Sunday.

The last time such an ennervated side took the field was against Adelaide in round 19 2005. This was the one where ND went for the big shutdown and the Dees did OK until he said "go for it" at three-quarter time and the Crows belted the living scheissen out of them. Apart from delistings and a trade the two sides have a lot in common. The r 19 2005 side is posted below for perusal, courtesy Final Siren.

This will be the third test of honesty and pride in a row. I don't think I can take much more. I'd be more inclined to play Humprey on the last line of defence. He's a pretty solid unit (although he does have short legs) and he might have to be talked into wearing some shorts.

im sick

ND had the chance to try something new, to try some youth, get the club excited again

but no... ferguson, bizzell, ward and wheatley still in the team

look at collingwood this week - one injury, yet they are debuting 3 new kids

why couldn't we try newton this week, or buckley

the chances of pettard playing is probably slim to none

Supporting them should never be in question, and never is really......

But I do fear for their safety this week  !!!

And this, unfortunately, would be the most frustrating part of the whole equation <_< .......

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
