Fantastic reading. Love the memories of these victories. It’s nice to remember the great moments of the Dees amongst the horrors of many heartbreaking losses or disastrous thrashings.  It’s the journey of life and of being Dees fanatics. Let’s enjoy the good times and the celebrations.

Superb late-night, several-wines-in, five-weeks-later reading. Again and again, waves of ways of appreciating what has been gifted us.

Some I watched from Vietnam. Others covideo from Perth. Some I saw. 
All great. 
List is pretty correct. 
Salem’s goal against Essendon was the one we really needed to start it all. 
The best three were in last four games.

I reckon the win over the Tiges on Anzac eve in Rd 6 should be higher than 11. Huge game in terms of generating belief in our system and ability to execute on a big occasion at the G. We beat Richmond at their own game. They challenged hard early, we were wobbling, but we steadied and won convincing in the end. They couldn't live with our intensity. First time i really started to believe we were genuine contenders.

I have a soft spot for our Rd 1 win v Gold Coast 2015. First time i enjoyed a game at the G for a long time. Beautiful Saturday afternoon. First time i had a seen us score a coast to coast goal in an age as well. A real thing of beauty from Dom Tyson

 

Good article, pretty spot on with that list I’d say. There were so many build up wins that we needed before getting to the big dance (call it learning crawl before you walk). I remember the TMac West Coast one so vividly because when they got out to 20 off points in the final quarter I just thought “no way do they lose from here at home”, but like so often in recent years this group proved me wrong. That frenetic lunge forward, and the swinging kick goal from Tommy sent me into raptures. 

I think I remembered thinking “if nothing else we are a team that has some guts and is respected by the footy world”. Perth is actually a happy hunting ground for us (let’s not talk about 2018 prelim though 🤫). 

In 2018 we had a relatively young side (Spargo, Neale-Bullen, Salem, Petracca, Brayshaw and Oliver were under 22) and no Bowey, Brown, Langdon, Fritsch, Petty, Lever, May, Sparrow, Jordan, Jackson, Rivers and Pickett.

Also in 2018 we probably had played our GF when we won the 2 finals in the previous weeks using the crowd to help our younger players enjoy the emotional experience.

West Coast had home ground advantage and were premiers after all with their key forwards doing some damage.

 

Will NEVER forget the Rd 14 vs WC 2017 win. We hadn’t won in Perth for 12 years, so there was that. But when Tmac snuck that goal in right at the end… I screamed almost as loud as I screamed when Maxy kicked the winner after the siren in Rd 23 this year. Almost. 🙂

I remember Roos said Salems kick was never in doubt as he was the best kick at the club.

The win over the Lions mid season was the first time I actually thought that we might be a real chance. Coming back the way we did was amazing and I’ll never forget that feeling, even with all the incredible events throughout the rest of the season. 

That is a great list of games to rewatch. Great summary of each as well deebrief, nice job.

There was an early win c2014 under Roos in Adelaide. 
Not disputing any of the 13 listed but the victory over the Crows there gave hope. 
 

Reasonable nemesis side, interstate win. 

I remember #10, the win at geelong on Corey Enrights 300th.  I remember this for an odd reason - Billy Brownarse banging on about the crowd showing disrespect to Boris by leaving before the final siren.  FMD.

I thought this game; 27 May 2018, Alice Springs where we handed the previous year’s grand finalists a good spanking would have got a mention.

“Melbourne were rampant in the 91-point hiding, racking up their fifth consecutive win with the 23.8 (146) to 8.7 (55) victory over last season's beaten grand finalists.

It was the first time Melbourne have won back-to-back games by more than 90 points in the club's history, the first time since 1993 that the Demons have won two games in the same season by more than 90 points and also their third victory in a row by more than 10 goals.”

I found attending that 2015 Geelong game live was just as satisfying as watching our round 23 game in lock down, even though there was far less at stake.

One of our great wins of the 2010-2019 decade.

 

Great article, although I have to admit I can't remember some of those games. A more challenging story might be identifying which games we lost which were also drivers leading to this year's Premiership. Surely, as much as we would like to forget it, the 186 debacle kick-started the process by shaking up standards. And there's probably a key Neeld era game which lead ultimately to his demise and the recruitment process which resulted in Roos' appointment. I'd also throw in the 2018 Preliminary Final which served as a reminder as to how much more we needed to improve to go further.

I was there at my ‘home game’. One of the best I’ve been too, until the GF that is 👍
