In 12 months time we will have a similar situation with JVR requesting a trade to the Eagles.

Huge dockers man JVR. He'd be hanging around their changerooms after games all of last year.

We get deals done like this when we have something else to get on with I reckon.

I really hope you are right.

Mahoney was the king of this period. Not sure if we've lost our edge since he left.

Freo got a good deal, but also gave everything that they had to give;

Not quite, they had North F2 and F3.

We could have at least got the North F2.

Right now my emotion is disappointed purely the fact that everything Tim Lamb had said from a stern and honest point of view is the opposite to what has happened.

Probably why there's a sense of anger and frustration with Melbourne supporters it seem reading social media.

Tim Lamb has really confused me with this.

Don't talk a big talk if you can't back it up Tim..

The reporting was very quickly 1 top 10 pick and a future first and our options closed as soon as the JHF deal came about.

Bedford has been traded for 44 but we’ve used that to get a future 2nd outright. We weren’t ever getting a better pick straight up for Toby. Nor do we care for any junk later picks thrown in.

I'll go you one better, we need to assemble a panel of former MFC list managers and heads of the FD in the next 24 hrs who understand football and can hold Lamb accountable to his actions. In future they will also bar any trades that can't be justified, this will be known as the concil of MFC trading.

Yeah sure, hahaha

So in the future do you want Lamb to ask for less and get less?

Because that seems unwise.

We got more than the Lever trade which was always going to be the benchmark for Jackson.

Please,  no more interstate drafts unless we get a good indication that they will be one club players.

To some extent I am happy he has gone. I thought we could tell mid season that he had decided to go, as his form dropped (started getting the fumbles) and our losing started to happen, either, disruption or was an integral cog, I think it was disruption.

Grundy will be a like for like replacement. So long as we give up to Collingwood as well.

I thought we folded our hand, and sent a message to other teams that we are soft dealers.

Yeah for sure. definitely feels like that right now. I'm just holding fire til we see what happens.

We've got this done 'early' in terms of the rush of the last few days, and things change so I wouldn't be surprised if something has come up in the meantime and we're getting on with business.

Oh we will remember the LJ trade when it comes time for JVR. Freo don’t have a F1 anymore so best of luck to them.

Hopefully we can sign JVR for a few additional years to prevent this from occurring.

[censored] people need to relax.

Nobody has any idea what the final analysis will look like so what is the point of complaining about specific draft picks.

We got our haul and watch what happens either at the end of Wednesday night or next year if we decide to keep a our future first rounder, (which I think we will).

If we manage to use 13, 27 and some other selections to move into the top 6 or 7 this year and then have two first rounders for next year to play with at a stronger draft, you can't not be excited about what that will look like.

As so many calm heads have already stated, we have no idea what the ramifications would be if we'd dug our heels in any longer. We've got it done clearly so we can concentrate on the myriad of opportunities that now lie ahead for this draft.

How about we wait until Wednesday night to reassess eh?

The Jackson trade points wise works out to be pick 2.

There's no way of saying that without knowing what next year's picks will be.

That would be very handy, done with this.

This is really important IMO. We've got this done before the really busy part of the trade period. I think we have more coming, but even if we don't we've given ourselves plenty of time to make more opportunities.

How do we get the Grundy deal done then?

And who would take picks 13 and 27 for pick 6?

Hoping we can move into the top 6-7.

And just to clarify, before people bite my head off, I love the work Tim Lamb has done to our list and think he's a shrewed operator.

Just confused with his communication from the start of trade period to how it's all transpired.

Being out of contract also limits what you can get. I wonder if we could have been a bit more clever and have had an agreement with Jackson when he was yet to make a decision and sign him up to two with a guarantee to trade him if that's what he decided (which he did). It would have given us some more leverage. I think this could have been one instance given the circumstances  where it could have worked??

Best outcome given Freo's hand.  Lets hope them and North have [censored] years next year.

It will be interesting to see how he goes with the huge expectation on him now.

As for Bedford, great potential, but a fringe player for the top 22, didn't sent the game on fire when he did play across 4 qtrs.  So about right.

Technically 13 and 27 is worth more points than 6.

There comes a point in the trade period where you have to draw the line. Unders happens, not overly thrilled about it but I'd rather a deal than no deal.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
