If he is staying, but contract not finalised, he could easily say that.

I find it unlikely that he doesnโ€™t know what he wants to do by now.

The usual result when you are hearing nothing at all by now, is that they have decided to leave, but donโ€™t want to say, to avoid the fuss that will be caused, during the rest of the season.

If he has decided to stay, I think he would have said it by now to stop the speculation.

If you follow that logic, he is probably gone.

BUT, then again.

Tend to agree and please correct me if Iโ€™m wrong but to date Luke has not said a single word that would suggest he is staying or going.

You can bet his manger has!

And Freo sound a bit loose-lipped.

Sound logic.ย  Hope it isn't so.

Slight difference.

I think Gus has indicated, though rather obliquely, that he is staying and no mention of homesickness.

Also there was a hint that he might announce on his Podcast soon.

Lucy, if he wants Freo, they don't have the picks and no point naming blokes that just aren't in the picture.

What do you think of my suggestion of Cox and Treacy, as the start of any deal. Cox is a 23 year old, 195cmย  SA key position defender/forward and Treacy a 19 year old 195cm Victorian key forward who is listed as tough, strong and with great hands. They have a local in Amiss coming through who with the current key forwards are enough for them.

Then steak knives of picks, or a ruckman, or maybe even getting Lobb, who would fill needs for us immediately.

Getting Cox and with Turner, it allows Petty to maybe move forward or other options and Cox would be there when May retires.

What are your thoughts on that sort of deal, if Jacko nominates Freo?

As of early Last week the Club was Confident they could keep Jackson, but nothing had been signed.ย

The club is confident but I am told the hold-up is the new EB and how much extra cap space we have. As stated elsewhere, Luke has told teammates he wants to stay but that can change quickly. All will be revealed eventually so let's just get on with trying to win and get a prime finals spot

Maybe Dusty Springfields' "Wishin and Hopin" is more apt.

I'm not familiar with the Freo players but would be very happy to get a forward and a ruckman who is ready to play AFLย  So Cox or Treacy would fit the fwd bill, not sure if tall enough for the ruckman or as a possible Max replacement.ย

As a second ruck/fwd we have Weideman and TMc in the short therm.ย  Most clubs have at least 3 true ruckman so we would need to get at least one from the upcoming trade/draft.ย

Bulldogs have now stated their interest in Lobb.ย  Logue has also been linked to the Bulldogs.ย  If both go to the Bulldogs, I can see their first round pick currently #9 in play.ย

I wouldn't mind a top 10 pick as part of a deal as we don't have one atm.

I think if Freo (or WCE) want Jackson they will find a way to do a fair deal (despite misgivings about Peter Bell's 'tactics').

Haven't given up on Jackson.ย

Cox is Freo CHB and I actually haven't given up on Jacko either.

The EBA argument is nonsense given the number of players who have re-signed.ย

And of course all will be revealed eventually.

If I was the club Iโ€™d ask for a decision quick, so we can move on and sign players. No footballer is irreplaceable- we just need to ensure we fill needs with the picks and players coming back our way.ย
I do like the idea of a Cam Pederson type backup- any VFL types who we can bring across?ย
And yes, if he leaves I will boo him for being soft. Something โ€œspecialโ€ about Perth, but I ainโ€™t seen it!!!ย

Why not get an "AFL" type ( ruckman) who us better than a VFL?ย

We are in the Avenue of attraction for a Flag so don't hold back let's get the best available.ย
Same as a KP forward, free agent if available then if not a recognised forward player from another AFL Club.ย

Listening to Jordan Lewis on this last night and I have doubts Jacko will ever fulfill his potential. Heโ€™s a very laidback sort of person and not someone whoโ€™s a competitive beast like Max or Oliver.ย

Similar to how we turned the Hogan trade into securing the missing piece of our premiership backline, we need to use this Jackson trade as an angle to secure an elite key contested marking forward.

ย

Agree with your Hogan comparisons regarding replacement players but now no Jesse is really hurting us ( when you think about it) as our forward line is our weakest link. ( not all the time however).ย

Completely disagree with you about Jacko not being a competitive beast. You either haven't watched elite sports persons and/ or athletes or you completely misjudge the off field character of LJ and his on field determination. In fact if I were LJ I would be utterly devastated about your opinion.

Name when he has not tried his best and to say he won't fulfill his potential because he can relax differently to other players is nonsense. We don't have to walk around for our whole career with a clenched fist ย and never smile to prove we are determined and using all our ability to be a winner on the field.ย

Perhaps ย you were never around when Jim Stynes or Robbie ย Flower won our B and F or Hall of Fame recognition.ย

This was the case with Cerra last year. Freo can eat [censored] if they canโ€™t deal. We are not giving away a pick 3 (who is once in a generation supposedly) for two end of first round picks. Itโ€™s one of Serong or Brayshaw ย + 2021 first rounder for Jackson.ย

I've nothing to add.ย  Just trying to get this thread to 100 pages.

We can do this, it's 1:28pm on Sat arvo and Jackson is an MFC player. Nothing else to say at this point.ย

ย

Let's assume Jackson is gone . We will need another ruckman who is capable of kicking goals or another T.Mac. (younger version ). We need another champion midfielder. This will allow Petracca to play forward . Also Turner could replace Petty in defence. This would allow Petty to play forward . We may not have a regular spot for B.Brown . B.Howes could become the new T.Mac providing the club can make use of him ( in other words train him for the T.Mac role ) . We could probably get T.Walker for very little. Would be good for a couple of years. All seems too easy doesn't it?

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecastโ€”20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze โ€” expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kateโ€™s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwoodโ€™s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isnโ€™t a standard conceptโ€”itโ€™s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
