Everyone was better

even Jack Vineys improvement from the GC game to the rest of the season was massive.

Wonder if he was told that if he kept trying to break tackles instead of setting clarry or Trak loose he would lose his spot (no matter how much Goody loves him). Only mistake I can remember from him in a fantastic finals series was his kick deep inside 50 in the second quarter of the GF to   no Dees and 3 dogs.

Kozzy for me, went from 7.13 goals last year to 40.28 this year!  Outstanding for any small forward let alone a 19yo one.

Gonna be a fan fav for a long time!

Jackson not far behind and Petty was excellent too.

Harrison Petty for me, he fitted into the back 6 like a duck to water.

The whole team has improved from that scrappy first game of the year against Freo.

At  the business end starting in round 23 I have seen the most improvement in Tom Sparrow. Touted pre draft as Dangerfield like with his pace and strength he has gone form strength to strength, he is strong, quick and knows how to kick a goal. He is no longer the first one you think off to drop and has gone past Jones and now Melksham and is adding great depth to an already formidable midfield.

Jackson deserves a mention because he is now clunking his marks and has so many strings to his bow.

Just so many.. Wouldn't like to be the one to decide! As others have said though, Kozzy & Fritsch have improved immensley, Petty is a lock down back now, Gawn improved his tap-outs (less 'clever' to effective), Oliver running out of congestion, Angus doing Angus things (in a good way), ANB setting us up as the connector....Goodwin.

Most improved…. Kicking

a working forward line and goals to points ratio

all timed perfectly to peak for the finals

I think the bottom 4-6 players as a unit have all improved but the one player I noticed yelling at much less was ANB 😀 so he takes the cake.

Jordan

Who? Jordon! :)

Yes

Most improved. Basically the whole team that played on GF day (incl Jordon) plus Hunt and Tomlinson

Top 3

Third place. Jayden Hunt. Showed real steel and attack from half back.  Was back to his 2016-17 form

Most improved runner up.  Kozzzy Pickett. Went from the potential to be, to being a dangerous small forward.

Most improved Winner. Most improved. Bailey Fritsch. 60 goals. Great year. Accuracy was the key.

Everyone makes a good case here.

I’ll nominate Tomlinson. Absolutely [censored] myself when he went down. Would never have thought that would be the case.

Let’s get him a medal.

I watch the after match celebrations and Pickett tried to give his medal to Neville Jetta but he refused the gesture, which make Pickett the most selfless.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
