SEN interviews with past Melbourne players and staff.

Featured Replies

Seems like we are the theme of this week. Couple if interview that SEN have conducted so far.

Todd Viney yesterday morning.

Sam Stynes this morning.

David Neitz on Dwayne Russell.

This absolute ripper with Bob Spargo who is Charlie's grandpa. Have had the pleasure of meeting him as well.

And Sharon Neal Bullen on Bob and Andy

The Bob Spargo interview is a crack up. He's a ripper old fella

I've directly linked to the interviews in the post above so they can be played within the thread.

Yeah I had no idea how to do that lol..

there was one on the weekend with, I think Steven Stretch and Buckenara talking about the 87 prelim. it was interesting, though didn't catch all of it. could be worth a listen.

Thanks for posting!

Does anyone have an edit of the Neitz interview with all the Dwayne cut out?

Tom and Garry (maybe all of SEN) were counting down the days with interviews with people who wore that number, or related to. Say 12 days to go, Todd. 11, Sam Stynes.

What's what it's worth Peter Jackson will be on tomorrow morning.

I'm actually surprised CS hasn't come out of the woodwork yet. I thought he'd be all over this like a cheap suit by now.

Ron Barassi would be a ripper

Still remember seeing a photo of him in a Richmond scarf at the 2017 grand final..

Hopefully it stays that way.

He’s been doing paintings about us. Good luck to him on that front.

I just don’t want him calling up giving comment on radio or TV. If he does, I pray Mario from Doncaster rings up to give him a burst again.

Sadly, I’m not sure Ron’s mental state would allow an extensive interview… 😢

Why am I not surprised one bit...

Anything on Daniel Cross? I just wanna know who he's Barracking for.

EDIT:

Another former Bulldog, Daniel Cross - who did not taste premiership success at the club before finishing his career at the Demons and then working in the football department there - said he was finding it difficult to decide who to support, but he would be pleased regardless of the result.

“It is going to be really hard for me, to be honest,” Cross said.

“It’s a win-win for me. I have got guys I have played with at both clubs, some really good friends in terms of being teammates and working with guys at Melbourne in high performance. I also know staff members at both clubs ... you could see it unfolding as the season went on. It was great to watch for my family.”

Cross played alongside Tom Liberatore, Lachie Hunter and Easton Wood in his final game with the Bulldogs in 2013, while Christian Salem, Max Gawn, Angus Brayshaw, James Harmes, Tom McDonald, and Jack Viney played in his last game for the Demons in 2015.

Those nine will play in this year’s grand final, while Christian Petracca and Alex Neal-Bullen were also at the Demons when Cross retired.

“The talent was obviously there,” Cross said.

“It was pretty obvious to see. It is no real surprise to see where they have ended up as a group.”

Interesting in the Bob Spargo interview that he said he thinks Dogs will win because they match hardened, then said on a hot GF day in 1961 they, the Dogs were beaten by a fresher Hawthorn who ran all over them in the last quarter. Predicted 24 in Perth Saturday.

He was a guest at a virtual work workshop I was at a couple of weeks ago. Was frank about the past (Richmond and Melbourne), his firings, depression, life in general and life after football. No comments as you’ve described, but a lot more decorum than you.

So I assume he didn’t call in and call you all a bunch of ignorant plebs which he virtually did on here post round 2, 2012?

Acknowledged his role was unlikely to continue when you get beaten by 186 points. Showed and read his diary entry for that day he got axed. Certainly didn’t get on Demonland 9 years later to have an unrelated pot shot.

Removed ‘nope’ at the start. Was referencing his recent presentation

24 not really hot and by the time the game starts it will be well under that figure. Fremantle doctor will do its job.

Not as good a job as the Richmond doctor would do.
