I can't really see a way we don't have significantly more run in the second half. dogs had a week off, but the 5-6 weeks leading up have been as hard and emotionally draining as they're likely to get. they've certainly done it the hard way.

they'll be setting themselves to throw a big punch early, and hope we're a little bit off like Port.

i've said it a few times, if this is close at 1/4 and 1/2 time, it's a Demons premiership. they need to be minimum 5 goals clear and then hang on for dear life

Okay boys and girls [censored] getting real now.

Listening to Kane Cornes this morning from Perth he reckons the general support around town is in the Dees favour against the Doggies 80/20.

If that translates even to 70/30 or 60/40 at the game then that’s a huge advantage on top of the fact we’ve already played some massive games at the same ground.

That, the demons being favourite on most tipping boards and that apparently we are getting most of the media attention plays right into Bevo's "us against the world" mantra he has adopted for the finals.

The mantra will be galvanising but I doubt it will get them over the line.  They don't look united or menacing enough.

At grand old Optus today for open training, we out number the dogs fans 3 to 1.

Still an hour before the boys run out

Fair crowd for a training session this morning

When did sauce become “ketchup”?

Didn’t, there is both. Ketchup is thicker.

There’s a lot of talk about targeting Gawn but I hope we are super aggressive on the Bont and English.

Im sure they will but it will cost them.

Jv wont be happy and Luke Jackson will be free to run around creating havoc,

Its nice to think we have something of a home ground advantage in Perth.

Played our last game and one a few weeks back v the Eagles so I guess its a little bit more suited to us.

Aside from winning this year, it would be only fair to win back to back flags so most supporters will be able to see us win at the G.

But I get ahead of myself. The dogs will be a tough team to beat.

I hope we jump out of the blocks and kick well at goal. I think Bbb may have a big day supported by Kozzie.

The last time we met was different.

I doubt they will get 14 more frees. Josh Bruce is out. Jv is back to his best. Max has gone turbo mode. Our fwd line is settled.

I want us to own Optus for all time  - only club to ever win a Premiership there

Genius, as a fan I've got a 100% winning record at optus. 3 from 3. Let's hope it is 4 from 4.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

From the start, Melbourne’s performance against the Gold Coast Suns at Peoples First Stadium was nothing short of a massive botch up and it came down in the first instance to poor preparation. Rather than adequately preparing the team for battle against an opponent potentially on the skids after suffering three consecutive losses, the Demons looking anything but sharp and ready to play in the opening minutes of the game. By way of contrast, the Suns demonstrated a clear sense of purpose and will to win. From the very first bounce of the ball they were back to where they left off earlier in the season in Round Three when the teams met at the MCG. They ran rings around the Demons and finished the game off with a dominant six goal final term. This time, they produced another dominant quarter to start the game, restricting Melbourne to a solitary point to lead by six goals at the first break, by which time, the game was all but over.

  • CASEY: Gold Coast

Coming off four consecutive victories and with a team filled with 17 AFL listed players, the Casey Demons took to their early morning encounter with the lowly Gold Coast Suns at People First Stadium with the swagger of a team that thought a win was inevitable. They were smashing it for the first twenty minutes of the game after Tom Fullarton booted the first two goals but they then descended into an abyss of frustrating poor form and lackadaisical effort that saw the swagger and the early arrogance disappear by quarter time when their lead was overtaken by a more intense and committed opponent. The Suns continued to apply the pressure in the second quarter and got out to a three goal lead in mid term before the Demons fought back. A late goal to the home side before the half time bell saw them ten points up at the break and another surge in the third quarter saw them comfortably up with a 23 point lead at the final break.

  • POSTGAME: Rd 16 vs Gold Coast

The Demons did not come to play from the opening bounce and let the Gold Coast kick the first 5 goals of the match. They then outscored the Suns for the next 3 quarters but it was too little too late and their season is now effectively over.
