Congratulations you absolute superstar. A beast, a contested footy machine, a warrior. Underrated by some, but not by those who understand the game best.

He couldn't give more appraisal to Simon Goodwin as he did then.

Goody looked like a proud father.

Well done Clarry! Come a long way since the days of rocking up fat to a Murray Bushrangers pre season training in Wangaratta 😉

Highly deserved for an outstanding season.  The most prestigious individual award of all IMO.

Clarry is a superstar.

I’ve just checked the round 23 votes though, and Scott strikes again. Bizarre voting. How did Stanley get more votes than Max?

Sympathy votes from Scott for Stanley there if ever I've seen them.  Given Stanley restricted his opponent to 25 touches, 39 hitouts, 6 marks, 7 clearances and the match winning goal, I'd hate to think what Scott was thinking Maxy was capable of without Stanley's stellar job!

Chris Scott is a [censored]. My most hated coach in the AFL.

Hasn't missed a game in 5 years. a beast of a player

Wow, that's true. Which means Goodwin has never coached a game without Oliver in the team.

Except that caretaker one at Essendon. But that, like all things Essendon, isn't worth remembering.

Lol. Thanks to that game, Simon Goodwin has coached the equal-second-most finals wins of any Essendon coach since 1968.

I digress.

Congratulations to Clayton Oliver on not only winning the coaches award but frankly romping it in!

When will Essendon break these embarrassing records? (Hopefully never.)

My guess...

Goodwin
5 Oliver  (because obviously)
4 Petracca  (because dees)
3 Dangerfield (because he torched us in the 2nd when the game was almost lost)
2 Stanley (because he beat Gawn in the 2nd when the game was almost lost)
1 Gawn (because he pulled us back into it and then won it)

Scott
5 Oliver (because obviously)
4 Selwood (because cats)
3 Lever (because there has to be a reason they lost)
2 Dangerfield (because cats)
1 Hawkins (because cats)

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
