Nah we don’t need to win on Monday. Crows next week will do us

If the Bombers roll the Dogs tomorrow we could be back on top Monday night. 2nd at worst if we win.

That hawthorn draw now [censored] me , if we had those extra two points , with 15% on the swans we would already be a top 4 lock , regardless of the next 3 rounds

If that was the case and we went into the finals off three successive losses, and still made the top four, that wouldn’t be a good thing!

People pointing out that we have dropped to fourth given Port won. Frankly it doesn’t matter where we finish in the top four, the key thing is to go into the finals in form, fresh and no major injuries. We get that, we can win the three finals.

In saying that, we will make the top four. We will win at least one of our last three, if not all three. It just depends on what approach we take. Given the Swans result tonight, I wouldn’t be against resting McDonald and Salem now if they have any sort of injury. Would rather freshen them up and have them right for next week and the finals.

This is where the AFL is very wrong to evaluate the injury. Players will watch that and think that’s ok, right until someone does it and puts a player in a wheelchair - and then all of a sudden the league will realise it is about the action, and not just the outcome.

But hang on , nothing happened to Collins with Viney’s elbow and he got two weeks… Selwood hit had a much higher likelihood of serious injury… and yet it’s just a fine.. this is the crap I just cannot put up with.

Beating the Eagles gives us the luxury of securing Top 4 with 2 games to spare. We can play the final 2 games with less pressure so can build our form. It also gives us a chance to manage players who are carrying niggles.

Huge incentive to beat the Eagles and i think we will

A week at most for me but there is no consistency.

Can't we make it easy for ourselves for a change!

Would be terrific to win Obviously. I was just responding to a post saying ‘to say to need to win against WC is an understatement’. But in reality it’s not a must win game. We just need to win one of 3 to be assured top 4

i reckon we might lose a close one tomorrow and then win the next two.

Selwood executed what was called a ' weak' act a few rounds ago and was roundly defeneded as being out of character.

Not now. I see a sniping pattern here. The GWS player was lucky he was as low as he was at the time and Selwoods blow was glancing.

This is where the old system actually had it right, two bad but not suspendable actions should equal a one week stint. Call it the culmination rule.

Either way you look at Selwood’s action, he lines the player up. There wasn’t any interest on the ball, his clout and standing in the game has protected him once again. Where are the commentators who condemned Viney last week saying it was a dirty act and not a good look?

Selwood is already part of the commentariat, having been on 7 multiple times. No chance of one of their own being called to account.

Giants didn’t waste any time lodging an appeal BDA, in a club statement they said this was a football action and doesn’t warrant a suspension.

Precisely the same as the Fritsch incident and appeal….must get off.

Should get a week. Was premediataed all the way. Not sure why the recipients level of injury seems to always be a big part of the equation......its the intent that matters the most for me.

Christian is just so clueless. Doesn't even have half a functioning brain.
Did he suffer repeat concussions?  What qualifications did he have for the role.

You don't need qualifications for a job with the AFL. You just need to be somebody's mate.

Exactly. Win tomorrow and see Salem rested along with one of Trac or Olly for example. TMac if he plays tomorrow and we win might also be spelled.

Lets bank a win vs Eagles tomorrow and secure top 4 for who knows what might happen:  Adelaide beat us early this year with a smart game plan and they will regroup this week and be ready for us again.  Then Geelong at Geelong; anything can happen there.

Very, very keen to win tomorrow.

Group chat was going off during this event. It is the most bizarre, difficult, dramatic and visually stimulating event of the Olympics.

It was a Showdown though where prior to the game, Port had won 25 times and Adelaide 24. This was to level it up.

I turned it back to the Swans game as soon as the two Crows collided and Port kicked a goal from it. It seemed like a pivotal moment in the game, of which I'd watched very little. Too busy enjoying Sydney losing. Figured Port would run away with it after that.

I was surprised to turn it back after the Sydney game to see Lynch kick a goal for Adelaide and with 3 and a bit minutes to go, Adelaide be within a kick. Port are deadset ordinary IMO.

Couldn't agree more.  But they are also the most "honest" side.  They'll beat pretty much everyone below them and lose to anyone above them.  It's that consistency that has them where they are.

Haha, I can see what you mean by honesty, but I'd call a side honest if they get it done in pressure matches. We've done that all year (with the exception of the most recent Bulldogs game). Port have stumbled at every hurdle. The Bulldogs have stumbled a few times when challenged too, as have Geelong.

I'd argue we're the most honest side. The games we've lost didn't highlight mental vulnerabilities that will hurt us in finals. They've simply showed a side can't be up all year.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
