GAMEDAY: Rd 18 vs Hawthorn

Recommended Posts

I'll be interested in the analysis of the game by those who know - how will Clarkson approach this. Of course, he's not got the cattle he used to, and therefore his approach will be different. How will a team down the bottom of the ladder (but brilliantly coached) approach the task?

I’m not really worried, just mindful that we have been off against lower ranked teams. I really want the player to bring a huge amount of pressure early to overwhelm them and get early scores on the board.

I’m also excited, I arrived from the UK yesterday and am watching the game from quarantine. Great to watch a game at a normal time, and great to be home.

AVB is the right man at the right time to step things up a notch for us with his hard as nails defensive intent and attacking attitude.

Tear the Hawks a new one Vanders.

Vanders reminds me of your namesake.

Rain easing, a few light showers during the evening. It's rained a bit during the last few hours so condition of the ground will depend on how fast it soaks it up. It'll be slippery nonetheless.

Also can confirm cold as balls

Sent the husband out to BBQ the steaks. Shiraz has been downed. We are ready.

Big day. The boy's U-11 side played in the most atrocious conditions this morning...suffered a gallant loss at the hands of the evil Marist College. Since Marist were top and the Dees are top (I don't count Geelong) then that's the omen for a Demon win.

Also, been at the pub all afternoon trying to warm up.

Go Dees!

When do we start booing Frosty again?

Personally I'm not one for booing Frosty.

Always respected that he had a fair dinkum crack at it, when he played for us.

I hardly think he went chasing the big bucks, just a guy trying to give himself a reasonable chance of consistently playing at the top level, when he could see the writing on the wall with the stocks of defensive thoroughbreds we now have with May, Lever and Co.

Agreed - in all serious, besides ‘he who shall not be named (who has now retired anyways)’ is there anybody we actively boo?

I can’t think of anybody

My lucky socks are on. I do need to note that they are Oliver socks I got as a present and while they’ve served me well, Oliver has not kicked a goal in any game I’ve worn them. So it is 100% my fault.

The Demon’s key defender and backline leader had his share of injuries and niggles throughout the season which prevented him from performing at his peak.  Date of Birth: 5 March 1996 Height: 195cm Games MFC 2024: 18 Career Total: 178 Goals MFC 2024: 1 Career Total: 5

    BLOODY BLUES by Meggs

The conclusion to Narrm’s home and away season was the inevitable let down by the bloody Blues  who meekly capitulated to the Bombers.   The 2024 season fixture handicapped the Demons chances from the get-go with Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Essendon advantaged with enough gimme games to ensure a tough road to the finals, especially after a slew of early season injuries to star players cost wins and percentage.     As we strode confidently through the gates of Prin

Melbourne’s most important player who dominated the first half of the season until his untimely injury in the Kings Birthday clash put an end to his season. At the time, he was on his way to many personal honours and the club in strong finals contention. When the season did end for Melbourne and Petracca was slowly recovering, he was engulfed in controversy about a possible move of clubs amid claims about his treatment by the club in the immediate aftermath of his injury. LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres

It remains to be seen whether Simon Goodwin will persevere with him in attack or return him to the backline where he was an important cog in the club’s 2021 premiership success.

After a bright start to the season, playing mostly in defence, Howes seemed to lose his way in midseason but fought back with some good performances at Casey and finished the year back at AFL level.
