When the Demons lose, is worse if:

1.  The loss happens on a Friday night match,

2.  The loss happens on Sunday night, or Monday afternoon?

On one view, if the loss happens on Friday, it ruins the weekend.

Conversely, a Sunday night/Monday afternoon (QB) loss drags the misery into the work week.

Of course, in a usual Melbourne year, we are all somewhat immune to losses and/or poor performances. But the 2021 version has raised our expectations.

I just spend 5 minutes typing this out. I could have used that time for something more useful. Perhaps I should re-phrase that by deleting the word "more". The sock drawer awaits.

A favour please. Please keep an eye out for my plot.

Sunday/Monday loss is worse.
Friday night gets it out of the way.

I think the question for you is “sweet or savoury?”

Or maybe “savoury and then sweet?”

You raise important .... even crucial questions bingers - no doubt about it.

For mine the answer lies in how much money I've won ..... or lost on Sportsbet  .................... and whether or not The Maid has found a new hiding spot.

Both as bad as each other for me. Yesterday’s loss and having the bye this week is really annoying me though.

I think the worst category is a loss before the bye. An extra week to wallow before the chance of redemption

It's a habit in my 'village' of family and friends to burn off some of the stain of a bad loss by watching some neutral football so a really disappointing loss like that without the 'plain digestive biscuits' to help settle the stomach is pretty rough.

My poor wife was all but ready to call in sick she was feeling so bitter and annoyed post-game. Even as recently as a year ago she would be the one doing a bit of patient consoling and cheering up, but something has changed and now... she knows.  Oh, she knows the pain of a true fan. I think this one upset her even more than the West Coast final because she wasn't so serious back then and there was the consolation that, well, it kind of made sense.

She now deeply hates West Coast, Hawthorn and Collingwood. Didn't even need a particular reason to hate Hawthorn, it just happened by instinct. What a keeper.

I just find find losses to either inbred types like Collingwood or drug Cheats like Essendon are worse regardless of the day.

I always prefer Friday night games. I can either watch other games relaxed knowing we won, or watch other teams with spite and revenge in my heart.

You can get more drunk after a Friday loss.

There's a mess of them down here under this huge pile of lids, Bingers. One of them might be yours?...

And as to your original question, the Friday night sample size isn't big enough - all that time without them, and then we've been winning them! But, for we of the 'What's-a-weekend?' retired, (aka the 'Not-so-much-to-think-about' retired)  any loss is a mood killer. Flipping your question, though, I love the wins in first games of rounds, especially when it puts/leaves us at the top of the ladder and you know none of the round's following results are going to change that! (which makes this result a bit more yechhh!...)

And Essendon. Tell her about Essendon!

We love Friday night games provides a spring in the step and a bit of positive reinforcement that we are on our merry way, other games are less important. Whereas a loss caused anguish loss of self belief and causes you to barrack against all top eight sides and enjoy their losses. I try to tell myself it’s just a GAME but we all know better…!!!!!!

No matter what day we play, if we win I purchase the next mornings HeraldSun, if we don’t I don’t!

No matter what day we play, if we win it sets up the next positive  week, if we don’t I feel cranky (and I still damn well do)?!

Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.
