A lot of venting goes on in the game day thread.

I tend to view in the same way I look at MFCSS. It’s just the way some people feel and express themselves. I don’t get too worked up about it.

The persecution complex is the one I find hardest to fathom. It takes a very brave poster to defend the umpires or to suggest that there isn’t a nefarious conspiracy by AFL House, the media, rival clubs, the illuminati, the reptilian elite, who are all plotting against us. Nobody has ever explained why they are all out to get us.

Good points, people are very emotional about their team and when not playing well need to vent. Surely people on here are aware of how people behave when actually at the game. It's pointless criticizing just take it with a grain of salt.

Hang on @Deefiant, the emotion behind your topic and post is the same as the ones you are having a go at.

Though it is not about the players but about some supporters.

Get off their back, let us be. We have a right to our opinions without you calling it out.

Is your point about virtue signalling?

Do you feel better now, after your vent?

Is it divide and conquer?

If you are really against negative posters, why are you jumping in the same river?

Can't see much of a difference between you and those you call are the MFCSS.

Couldn’t agree more, Kev. You can’t just cherry-pick a bunch of comments made in the heat of the moment then take the holier than thou stance. Had those same comments been made at any time other than during the game, then yeah, maybe a dressing down might be in order. And this is coming from someone who can hand on heart say that I have never made a disparaging comment about any of our players*. I can’t do this, ever. But that’s just me. But I totally understand how human emotions work so I choose not to take those awful comments seriously.
*with one exception: I once  said Clayton is that kid at school who won’t own up to to whatever rule he’s just broken and will have no qualms sitting back and watching the whole class get punished. ?

You have the right to express a trash opinion, but do you really want to be someone that does so?

Passing emotions aren't your opinion anyway. You can have thoughts without expressing or even agreeing with them.

How precious some of you are; @Deefiantput a mirror up to some of us and you don’t have to like it but he didn’t do anything more than that. He doesn’t need to defend anything, if you want to vent and say ridiculous things - by all means - but we can roll our eyes.

I like to think of Demonland as a pub where we are all there; Andy behind the bar, Nasher trying to fix the wifi, rjay referring to everyone with ‘air quotes’ and causing angst and confusion, and rpfc sitting in the corner contemplating whether to point out that the thing that newbie said is wrong or over the top and he should just sit down.

Why not have a trash opinion?

It is a human condition.

Opinions on peoples emotions. Anger, frustration, disappointment can be expressed in opinion.

Would rather be free to express my stuff, other than the thought police, what does it matter.

Good, bad or indifferent, what is the concern?

Game day threads are purely cathartic, and should be treated as such. There is no grey, it’s either extreme elation or utter devastation.

I enjoy reading through that stream of consciousness after a win, it’s always funny when the first 23 pages make it sound like a 6 goal loss and the last page is celebration of a 4 goal win.

What mirror?

Probably doesn't know any of them.

It is up to me if I want to look at the mirror.

Are you looking at your own reflection, or is it easier to avoid that and tell others what to change.

I don’t think there is right or wrong, as it is sharing. I may not agree, but if I stretch, I can see the others point of view.

Isn't that the point. Even exaggerations an be a viewing into the nature of us.

Just makes me think of that guy that used to turn up at the Canberra pub where I'd watch demons games during the Neeld era and spent the whole time hating on Jack Watts then going quiet when he did something good. Sooked up a storm when I called him out. Makes watching footy unpleasant when you gotta process other people's emotions for them. Far more fun ragging on other team's supporters than your own team, even when you're losing. You lot should try it.

The game day threads are a way for people to relieve frustration and anxiety while watching the game (generally) alone. I don't get why people take it so seriously, everything in their should be taken with a barrel of salt.

Ok, I will own up to one of those comments, and yeah, feel like a bit of a prat right now. But at half time, we were ordinary. The second half was like a different team had stepped on to the park. I suppose game day threads are exactly that, people venting their thoughts on what they are seeing at the time. Emotions can be a roller coaster. And please don’t question my commitment as a supporter, I buy a premium package every year in the hope that I can use the GF guarantee. Went to both 1988 and 2000, belted off the park in both! Scarred, yeah probably

Haha wasn't meant to be an attack more of a light hearted look at how down melbourne supporters can get. I'm pretty sure i'm scarred in expecting melbourne to lose in any position. I'm struggling to believe that we are genuine premiership contenders.

Look I haven't checked this thread since before your comments. Feel free to make assumptions about me but I will not be engaging in a [censored] slinging match. Didn't know by starting a thread meant I had an obligation to say anything else.

Should have given the bloke the ‘stare down’, like that guy did with Goody at the Doggies preseason game!

Can we move this debate to a new thread called “Stupid things demonlanders say on game day threads”. Then this thread can get back to what Lions supporters are saying about us.

So you aren’t going to add anything further to the thread?

You start a conversation but then nothing,

Not even an emoji!

Wow, you love your own voice. That's the sling.

Shame you don't understand others.

You started the censored slingging by taking cheap pot-shots at peoples statements and foibles.

What the OP shows is that too many still haven't been able to accept that we're a different side this year.

Most previous years being down 20 points to Brisbane at HT would be curtains.

But repeatedly this year we have started poorly but improved as the game has gone on (GWS, Richmond, Sydney, North Melbourne and now Brisbane).

What it shows is too many haven’t learned from their own previous mistakes of mouthing off (and in some cases pure bile) only to end up with egg on their faces, but they will continue to do the same

And I love the talk about ‘censorship’ - people were quoted anonymously!

If anything their ‘voices of reason’ were amplified, not censored…

And there is no public square here - we are posting at the discretion of Andy and whatever cloud software he is subscribing to and whatever AWS or Azure servers are holding this nonsense.

Doesn’t need to be hard censorship, shame and public humiliation can cause the same response.

Those who posted, and had their views highlighted, may be intimated to post freely.

Easy to find those anonymous by referring to the thread and posts.

I’m another avid match day thread avoider. I’ll post at half time if we’re winning, I’m feeling brave AND I’m bored and have no better way to fill in the long break.

I just don’t like bagging Melbourne or its players, and people who do have a severe negative effect on my mood. I support the team and the players, even the s*** ones. It doesn’t mean I can’t tell when they’re playing badly or that I’m not frustrated by it, which is what you get accused of if you try and argue with the ragers who have freaked out because we’re 3 points down half way through the second quarter. There’s no point. I just watch the game.

What is the issue with some having outlandish opinions of anger and frustration with the MFC.

Much prefer honest expression than quietness.

It can even be humouress.

No statements made on anything can be absolutely correct.

There are some who say, 1+1 does not equal 2 and they can prove it.

Others, the only truth I know is, I know nothing.

Then there are the stoics, existentialist and even nihilist.

I believe everyone (though not the face value, but from the undertones), and usually enjoy interpreting the reason and meaning, which is based on their social, psychological and spiritual experiences.

Give them room to express those hidden darknesses. They need the release on forums otherwise they may take it into real places.

You’re right, it would cause shame and humiliation.

@Nasher - ban the game day threads - it’s for people’s own good as they are humiliating themselves through the ability to post while watching the game.

Perhaps Demonland should be on hiatus for three hours every weekend?

My tongue is so entrenched in my cheek that it’s becoming fatigued but seriously - we are 11-1 and swept up in this ridiculousness.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
