Um, yes. I'm interested in knowing what your parameters for success and failure are. For example, if Victoria is the worst State in Australia but still better than 95% of the rest of the world (and I'm not saying that it has been), is that still bad?

Well here's the point. I don't live in Europe or anywhere in the rest of the World, unlike Bing181, I actually live in Australia, more particularly Victoria, so I'm better qualified to comment on what's happening here. Perhaps if Bing181 lived in Victoria and not France, he'd be qualified to comment on what's happened here, but he's not.

So here's the thing LDvC, I'd like to comment on where I live, Victoria and as well, the rest of Australia.

We have the worst record, by far, in terms of numbers of infections. I think even you'd have to agree with that?

We have had more deaths, by far, than any other State, Agree?

We've had more time locked in that any other State, Agree?

We have had more lockdowns than any other State, Agree?

We are the only State that's had a curfew, a couple in fact, Agree?

We are the only State that's completely effed up the Hotel Quarantine system, Agree?

We've been locked out of every State in Australia, more times than every other State. Agree?

Andrews criticised  NSW for not locking down earlier than they did and when we got a few infections he set out to lock us down, for the sixth time, it was supposed to be a short sharp lockdown, he told NSW that's the way to do it, well that worked out well for him, didn't it. The only reason he let us out of the last lockdown was he finally realised that we had had enough and would start to disobey his directives if not went on much longer.

We are getting huge numbers, despite the lockdown, and there was no sound reason to let us out but he has, strange that, don't you think. Do you really think he would have let us out if it was the same time last year. There are plenty of Public Servants that are in the Stand by Dan crew and if not for them he wouldn't be able to show his face in public.

I could go on, but I'm becoming bored pointing out the facts to you and I still doubt you get even with the facts in front of you so I'd rather not waste any more of my time.

BTW, if you want to discuss Europe, talk to Bing181, I'm sure he can give you all the help you need.

I swear you’re just deliberately ignoring the fact that we have majority vaccine coverage, which is the reason we’re not in lockdown this time around. Yes lockdown fatigue was a major issue, but ffs mate, your head is clearly shoved a mile up your [censored] if you still don’t understand that vaccination is clearly the main reason we’re out of lockdown.

So you're saying that last year or a few months ago even, he wouldn't have kept us in lock down if we had these numbers, you stand with Dan, I'll just go on the facts.

You seem to be a Dan man, then perhaps you can tell me why, or how you think he's done a great job. That goes for anyone who thinks that way, anyone, particularly those that have given me the face palm

End of.

Australia was the first country to close its borders to the rest of the World, did you forget that?

This is NOT Europe, what happens there has little bearing in what happens here, when we open the borders, things may change.

I notice all the Dan men won't answer the questions I posed. When you haven't got an answer then try to change the subject.

I'm not a Dan man & I don't particularly like the man who reckons he doesn't hold the hose & it's not a race...

...but, what's the question you posed?

You prattled off a whole heap of stuff you assert as facts.

There were so many that just maybe some where facts...who knows.

Simple question, can you tell me which are not correct?

No forget it, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink. If you can't tell me which are false, and from you post you can't, then I give up.

How precious of you, seeing as you're the one who responded to a perfectly reasonable post about people working together and doing the right thing to minimise the chances of an outbreak happening again and twisted it into a vehicle for you to attack Daniel Andrews and the way the pandemic had been managed.

You deserved to be face-palmed for hijacking the thread to suit your own political bias when the initial comment that raised your hackles was merely about everybody co-operating and following protocols for the sake of us all and taking responsibility for their own actions.

Your other points appear to be correct but I'm not sure what you think is the relevance to whatever point you are trying to make.

I actually don't understand your argument.

Our record against the rest of the country is not good at all, I agree.

...why that is I really don't know. It has nothing to do with being in lockdown, being locked out of other stares or having a curfew.

Is it that we've been less compliant?

Demonstrations seem to show that may be the case.

We certainly had poor management of quarantine early in the piece.

Is our tracing system not as good.

Is it just bad luck...

I mean this outbreak kicked off with Sydney side removalists from memory wandering around and spreading, plus some others coming on down as they pleased.

This is not true, all states have had issues with Quarantine.

...and truthfully (fact as you like), quarantine is a federal responsibility. The bloke who doesn't hold a hose mate was happy to pass the buck on this one as well.

He actually wanted home quarantine...the states pushed for something harder, not perfect by any means but where are all our quarantine facilities? sold off...this has been coming for a while now but governments of both kinds have dropped the ball and here we are.

I can just imagine how home quarantining would have worked...

It’s still you, bro.

I repeat. We didn’t have widespread vaccination coverage a few months ago. We didn’t even have a vaccine at all last year. Hence why we were in lockdown when we had high case numbers. It’s really not that hard to understand mate. Honestly can’t believe I actually had to repeat that.

By the way, not everyone who disagrees with you is a “Dan man”. I haven’t even brought him up at all, yet you’re the one mentioning him in every single comment.

Up here in the ACT, with a Chief Minister very found of locking down, we are not even out of the latest outbreak but we’re open because we are at 90% vaccinated as of today.

Nothing is black and white and the performance of the state leadership has been over the place. I’m a bit ashamed of the Fed govt response being a public servant up here, but I am glad we are on the way out of this. People will do what they want, believe what facts they want, and won’t concede anything.

That disease isn’t going anywhere.

Fun times!

Great, so clubs will probably still have to quarantine in WA between rounds 1 and 15, despite the rest of Australia being opened up.

Hopefully we don't need to travel there in the early rounds.

suspend the two WA teams from the competition that would get opening up sooner I think

It's easier than that. Relocate the WA teams to the east coast until the WA gulag reopens. No games in WA until they rejoin the federation.

I'm somewhat disappointed that Dante and me - given the relationship of our names - aren't quite communicating. We should be like brothers in arms, rather than heading towards a Cain and Abel situation. In fact, we all should be. Let's move on from this pointless back-and-forth and be grateful that here in Melbourne at 6pm today we leave the inferno.

(Did you see what I did there?)

The precedence is set aflw-adelaide-crows-star-deni-varnhagen-covid19-vaccination-refusal-anti-vax/news-story

Now on the 'Inactive List':   "And Varnhagen’s stance means while she will still be officially linked to the club, the 29-year old won’t be permitted to train or play games".

While it is a precedent, there is also a significant difference. AFLW is not the main job of AFLW players. In Varnhagen's case, I believe she's still working as a registered nurse. For the men, AFL is a full-time, professional career with a lot of potential earnings at stake. In other words, while I hope all the AFL men are vaccinated, if one or more don't want to be, get ready for an expensive legal challenge.

He was always going to open up before the AFL season. He might be insane, but he is not stupid. He knows if Freo and West Coast were forced to hub due to his strict border rules, he would lose a lot of support and fast.

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
