But the loss of 2 big revenue games could be replaced with 4 others.  Make a profit from the situation.  Strike while the iron is hot (10 & 1 gives us leverage)

As you suggested the GWS game could be played in the NT:this year but we could have 2 NT games (Alice Springs only) next year ... 1.6 mil instead of $800k (Against low drawing interstate teams of course)

Plus 2 more blockbusters next year ... both Friday night FTA vs Cats & Bombers

And the QB clash next year needs to be our home home game again

If this game is in front of a crowd next week and we make some money of it,  then I assume Collingwood will get the home game next year.

Yeah but how much are we going to make? 

If it's an amount way less than what we could have been expecting with the game at the MCG,  I'd be playing hard ball

For once, we are in a position of strength

Meanwhile, Collingwoid are in disarray.  And the handshake deal with regards to the QB clash needs to be fair to both clubs

I don't like handshake details. This should be contracted in whatever manner is needed. And taking into account sovereign risk, so if a team loses it one year, they get it the next (or until crowds allowed at some pre determined capacity ie 85%). This could bite the other team on the bum also.

You've taken me a bit too literally with regards the handshake deal on the QB clash.  The chances are that there are drawn up contracts

If so,  then we can be expecting $1Million plus from the deal.  Are we going to get anywhere near that sort of money if the game is played elsewhere?  I doubt it but you never know

They have that whole Ponsford stand that caters for their 15-20 thousand premium members.  Pouring rights, food, merchandise sales etc etc are probably in their favour as well

all comes down to the total revenue/stadium deal.

Geelong reportedly make more from playing at Kardinia Park in front of 35k than playing at the MCG with a crowd of 55k.

Peggy O'Neil (Richmond President) said on ABC radio that Essendon were very happy with the financial result of playing at Optus this weekend.

Perhaps time for the MCG Trust to get into the bidding war.

The Crows released a press statement accepting the fine and said they accept it and own the mistake "from top to bottom". So I suspect they definitely did the wrong thing.

We need to get on top of this covid in melbourne big time, it would be horrible if a disaster was to happen and there were no finals in melbourne. It would just be typical the year we are flying if we did make it to the big dance we couldn't attend.

We’re onto something special this year and it’s such a shame that we have to watch the games at home.

I think it does when they haven't been able to identify the source or infection point for some of the cases: if we stay open and the cases go from 4 per day to 20 per day quickly, we could be looking at months not weeks.

I reckon a majority of Victorians are starting to really struggle with covid fatigue.

As a casual I am stood down but still lucky enough to have a job, but this lockdown I have found I am starting to really miss it and its sense of drive and purpose it gives me. Having nothing to do really is quite boring, and for many I fear it will be too much to bare.

Lucky enough our Dees are giving us all some much needed hope and inspiration to just keep going. I’d be mightily [censored] if footy is taken away from us in Victoria for much longer (I dread the thought of losing finals to the other states again). Finals in Melbourne spells the beginning of Spring, of hope and re-birth.

Why is it that Victoria and those in charge simply have NFI when it comes to handling this virus? Someone coughs and we seem to go back into lockdown.

Every other state has done significantly better in managing this thing than us. The bureaucrats are slowly killing this state, bleeding it dry with death by a thousand cuts.

And now I hear Dan is primping himself up, coming back to save us all. FMD. Bloody glad the Tiggies ripped the heart out of Dans Druggies. He’s as smug and arrogant as the rest of their supporters. Good riddance to him, his club and this [censored] virus.

If it's one thing I've learned over here in the UK, much better to have short term pain in order to get a long term better result. But ultimately the biggest thing is that people need to get vaccinated. Yet again the UK are going to be the Guinea Pigs to test how strong the vaccines really are, reported cases are rising but importantly if hospitalisation stays steady (particularly in the vaccinated) then it's a positive for everyone.  

Really hoping the Vic government are able to get on top of this to allow finals to take place in Melbourne.
