Oh crap. If we are going into lockdown I had least had comfort I could watch the footy.ย

This is just typical, the season we start off greatย  and it's enjoyable going to the footy again & this stuff rears its ugly head again

ย

So let me get this straightย  - we are 9-1 and have 2 friday night blockbusters for the first time in like ever and this happens?

everything can go and get [censored]!!

Faulty, Iย  have just been checking some UK stat's. The under 50's are about twice as likely to get blood clots than over 50's from AZ.ย It is still a very low number compared to the pill for instance. But why are older people being used to get rid of the surplus drug. We could do as other countries have done and given it to poorer desperate countries. We will all probably have to have the mRNA drugs eventually anyway to combat the mutations.

Again, this started with a man in his 60s who it has been asserted had not had vaccine, despite being eligible. Given he caught it, transmiited AND got sick it would appear very likely this assertion is accurateย

Perhaps he was also a waitingย for the 'good stuff'.ย

If so that decision is has been huge factor in where weย re right now.ย

Everyone over 50 should get vaccinated.ย It is our civic duty.

And when they make AV eligible for under 50s they should get vaccinated too.ย

On that risk, there is risk with any vaccine options. So there is a chance someone waiting for Pfizer will have an adverse reation to it. Does anyone know the name of the flue vaccine they had this year?ย

Besides the advice may well change to to recommend AV for under 50s,ย becuase now there there is COVID in the community the risk balance changes, meaning the risks of getting sick or dying from COVID far outweigh the infinitesimalย risk of developing blood clots

And the risk discussion is frankly bizarre anyway given the risks that are much more likely to result in injury or death people willingly take every singleย day without giving it any thought whatsoever. Just three driving related examples - peanuts who mindlessly tailgate, anyone distracted at all by their mobile phone when driving orย driving with ANY alcohol in theirย system (ie under .05, eg .01). ย

Just fact checking this - is the assertion that this lockdown was caused as per above?

My understanding is that someone caught Covid from the Adelaide quarantine hotel, tested negative on exit, came to Mel and away it went - the Wollert person.

So, again, root cause analysis. Poor quarantine.

It's a stretch to blame hesitancy w.r.t to the AZ clot risk - the psychology is completely understandable. I'd tend to blame the management of quarantine, vaccination acquisition (ie why don't we have more Pfizer/Moderna), messaging particularly re: risk.

It's very easy to blame one person, but it's not the right target. Unless I am missing something here.

Just a small clarification.ย  It started with a man in his 40's who contracted covid while in quarantine in South Australia returning to Victoria.ย  Unfortunately, the Vic contact tracers identified the wrong Epping Woolworths as an exposure site for him.ย ย  It took two weeks (May 21) for them to realise the error by which time the virus had spread to others.ย ย ย

Contract tracing really need to lift their game in this state.

Agree and then both forward vaccinate and 7 day forward quarantine at designated foreign airport hotel.

Massive reduction of risk and not that expensive in the scheme of things.

Plus allocate local hotel quarantine by risk levels.

Anyway...here we go againย ?

Does Vic have a centralised/mandated business QR system like we have in NSW?

That true, fair point. And they don't know yet the link between the fella from hotel quarantine and the so called case 5.

So you are right it is possible that an outbreak might have stilled occurred.

Nonetheless the chain would have been broken and the current outbreak would have have not occurred.

But you are also right, the real issue is the ridiculous hotelย quarantine program. I mean it is so obvious NT styleย quarantine stations are required. A no brainer

Technically, yes.ย  But supermarkets and shopping centers were in the 'recommended' use category rather than the 'mandatory' category like restaurants and cafes.ย  Also, there was no obligation to use the Vic gov QR app altho I believe this has recently or is about to change with this new outbreak.ย  I'm afraid it is a 'closing the door after the horse has bolted' situation.

I don't think this error has had any bearing on this outbreak. Thus far there hasn't been any transmission in shopping centre settings in Australia

I never assume anything about anyone's political persuasion.

The geonome testing has directly connected the current outbreak to tthe Wollert man.ย

He went to the Epping North Woolworths.ย  Instead, the Epping Woolworths was listed as an exposure site so people who went there went for testing and were found to be negative.ย  Those that went to Epping North weren't required to be tested for the two weeks until the error was discovered.ย  Now we have many positive tests.ย

All roads lead back to the Wollert man.

Root Cause Analysis: quarantining in high density CBD hotels is the issue here.

All you over 40s in Vic, you can now get Pfizer, even if not 1a/1b. No excuses now, except if you don't want 5G New World Order chips in your blood*

Perhaps he didn't wait because our Prime Minister and Opposition Leader are classified as 'essential services' so were early receivers of Pfizer.

I prefer they both had Pfizer early than risk our government falling into disarray because they fell ill.

Anyway, I've said my piece so I'll move on.
