Brown would probably have to kick 5-6 goals at least to get the recall. He was brought in to provide the finish to our midfield dominance. Thought Weid was really disappointing and didn’t show enough to warrant another game unfortunately and has been given ample chances again.

Weid was terrible two weeks in a row at AFL level.  All BBB has to do is show up today and kick 3 or 4 and he is in against the Dogs.

Big game today with senior spots up for grabs and for Casey to go 5-0.

None of our forwards were able to capitalise on our 'midfield dominance' yesterday. Hardly think singling out Weid is fair. Go back and look at the disgraceful delivery forward.

Fair call Nev and agree the delivery needs improvement but you cannot always expect silver service. Competitive marking is required on occasion.

Would not be surprised if BB doesn’t play today. Keep him fresh for next week now that Weideman has had two poor games.
I would be shocked and frankly very annoyed if he doesn’t play against the Dogs. He is a weapon at Marvel.

Weid took the same amount of marks as TMac and more than Fritsch. It's not about 'silver service' it's about not just bombing it blindly. it hurt all of our marking forwards.

For some reason Weid has become the new whipping boy it seems.

Well said LN, the kid has played two games so far this year, maybe he just needs some time?

I think people are disappointed with his inconsistent kicking for goals when he should kick them. Thus, they compare his output to BBB who tends to be a more reliable goal kicker.

Maybe. They don't have a massively different accuracy % over their careers though. 63.5% for Weid, 67.4 for Brown.

Whipping boy because of too many underwhelming performances.

This may be the live stream being tested?

292 Goals vs 46 - I know who I’d prefer?

T.Mac and Fritsch have form Weid doesn't.

I’d take Weid over Fritsch on current form

You got offended over that...???

How was that vitriol or offensive?

It wasn’t - actually quite factual.

Yeah look it was my only opinion. But no way did I get personal. Amazed people get hiss over the smallest things.

All we are doing is bringing in more Oskar Bakers, Ben Newton's etc by wanting to chase these kind of players.

If you want to look at players that can come in straight away and make a genuine impact, then the likes of Ed Richards from the doggies would be an ideal target.

Can't get the live stream on youtube but am listening to Casey radio.

No good for me in Regional NSW - any other ways to listen/watch?

Gaulden misses 1 behind Sydney Casey yet to score

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front.  They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
