Port changing into there prison bar jumpers to sing the song is pure genius. They better not get any fine for that.

Cop that AFL, pies & Eddie

I wonder if that puts them in breach of their contract?  Part of the deal for coming into the AFL was that they would leave the ‘iconic’ black and white stripes of their SANFL days behind them.  Collingwood had the AFL rights to this, and Port signed off on it to gain entry.  The Pies have every right to enforce their contract, and this ‘show’ really is poor form on their part. What did it prove?  The Crows were manufactured so there is no traditional SA rivalry before the AFL entry of either team, so the prison bars are meaningless in this context.

Imagine if The Lions wanted to be called the gorillas when they played us because they were called that in 1939?  Some things make no sense.

I note that pox Kane Cornes suggested that a later tackle on Lycett should have been violent in retribution ‘enforced’, but how stupid? You want to give a brain injury to a guy because he gave someone else a brain injury?

Speaking of brain injuries, were they serious about Boxing match between Cornes and Brown?

Interesting to see how Brisbane goes. They are going for five wins in a row after losing their first 3. Looks like they will be a serious contender to challenge us.

My eyes are starting to bleed. Goalless and worst quarter of footy for the year.

Hawks had 127 disposals that Q for 8 inside 50’s and zero goals. Has to be a record

Unbelievable. They've done it again.

Why are the umps wearing light blue when the Eagles are playing in predominately blue.

FMD.

Ridiculous isn't it? It would literally take 15 minutes for someone to whack together a matrix of what colours the umpires should wear in each combination of teams to avoid clashes.

Or they could always just wear that green uniform they have, seeing as there aren't any clubs with a green uniform.

This seems like the easiest problem ever to solve.

It’s staggering.

On another note if Clarkson coaches Hawthorn to another premiership he’s going to be a very long term coach because they are miles off contending again.

Quietly cheering for the Blues (yuk), two games clear if they win, plus it might attract a few of them to attend next week.

It’s nice for a change it not being us playing an interstate team on Mother’s Day while also being a bloody average team.

Got to be a couple of different factors at play. COVID concerns for older patrons, ticketing issues for some, no/less walk up general admin, less neutral supporters going  & perhaps people now prefer to watch on TV.

Carlscum are playing well today.
They will be no pushover next week.
no esy games…

They kick big scores but conversely give up big scores. Lot of the matches they win are shootouts.

If we’re strong in defence we should outscore them.

Having said that I’m still worried they’ll beat us.

That was fun catching up with my family who are mostly Hawks supporters and watching the Hawks vs WC game on TV with them.

We should win, but once again it won’t be an easy game.
players should not be “Rested” All hands on Deck

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
