Little Goffy 14,971 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Pretty sure this is an error in the Telstra Tracker system - clearly their devices can't record greater than 100kms/hr speeds so Melksham has been severely shortchanged. 3 2 Quote
Pickett2Jackson 3,904 Posted April 5, 2021 Posted April 5, 2021 Should be in the AA squad of 40 at this stage. Quote

Nasher 33,686 Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Good old divide by zero error. The fuel use calculator in my car does this when my foot is off the accelerator; reports 99.9l/100k. Worst thing is it gets counted in the average, so I can’t get meaningful efficiency stats out of it. As a programmer that just frustrates the crap out of me. 1 1 2 Quote

So you take your foot of the accelerator and it shows the worst fuel economy? I could understand if it showed a really low number. Something wrong there. Quote

Defensive programming, I’m sure there is some analogy to football here..... Quote
DubDee 26,682 Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 Good first hit out from Melksham. Didn’t see him shirk a contest and didn’t turn it over once! but seriously - counting a player who does not step on the field as having played a game is an absolute farce! They even get a premiership medal! 1 Quote

They even get a premiership medal! As a matter of interest, does the 12th man/woman in cricket get that game credited to his or her career? Also, as I've posted before, in the days of the non-interchangeable 19th and 20th men, those selected on the bench were credited with a game, whether they played or not. I see no difference here and believe it is the correct decision. Apart from anything else, purely as a work-based issue, they have had to turn up to work, in their working gear and had to be emotionally tuned into the game so they can be ready to play if called upon. Not sure about cricket, but I know in round-ball football you only get an appearance when you are subbed on. To me if seems insane you would get credited with an appearance when you do not play for even a minute. I understand your example you raise and they should be paid for it but not get credited a game. Should be give the carried over emergency a cap too? 1 Quote

Jjrogan 1,486 Posted April 8, 2021 Posted April 8, 2021 It does not count in cricket. Andy Bichel carried the drinks 19 times. He also, by coincidence, officially played 19 test matches. (Not recorded as 38 caps) 1 Quote

(Not recorded as 38 caps) Seems unfair when Mark Taylor is still credited with all his games from 1991, which weren't much more than bringing out the drinks and going back to the pavilion. I was just old enough/young enough back then to think that taking a Mark Taylor was a hilarious way to describe pissing behind a tree (out taking a slash outside off stump). Quote
