I read it as a way to get additional borderline followers as members into the number count this year and help achieve a record, while also banking them for next year

For this to be the case, my label of borderline has to mean not yet paid up this year, but considering it, and would be tipped over the edge by enticement of 3 games for this year and next  -  probably not a large number in that bucket, but we're only after a few hundred more to hit a record

Hi GYM. I hear what you're saying and I'm all for selling three game packages (assuming they'll even get entry to the ground with covid restrictions) but they shouldn't then be classed as members in order to doctor the figures.

Agree, that's kinda what I'm getting at...

But anyway, I'm sure every other club has it's unique interpretations

It's all about eyes on the game to sell to sponsors. Probably a small financial gain. That's the way of the world in 21st century.

If we can use this season to get an extra 5k-10k names to send reminder emails then that is one way to make the most of this difficult year.

?‍♀️ I’m in that bucket. I just bought the 3 games this year/3 games next year package. I told the girl I’ll be buying a proper membership in 2022 and she said I’m already added to the membership tally. So there’s one more towards the target. ?

Only 200 or so until we exceed the all time number

Suspect there’ll be some pet cats and dogs signed up to ensure we beat the record

❤️? Let’s keep the  numbers increasing! ❤️?

anyone want to guess the final number?  cutoff is end of this month

i'll kick it off with  52,653

I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere; does anyone know how many MFC memberships with a GFG have been sold?

Disclosure: I've been a MFC member for close to 60 years and a Redlegs member (includes GFG) for 20 years.

Not sure you can call a draw with Hawthorn as powering our way out of anything.

wow, impressive.    wcw's estimate looking good

I thought my estimate was a little too lofty, but I’m happy to see the total has surpassed it. Let’s look forward to even more of an increase! ❤️?

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
