I can see us offloading Angus Brayshaw at the end of the season.  I think with Jordon and Sparrow plus the young blokes we drafted in 2020 will give the club confidence that if a first round pick was offered for Brayshaw you would take it.  I also think he will be looking for out, he isn't a wing and will want more time in the centre square.

IMO it looks as though Jones, Jetta, Baker and AVB will be on the chopping block or traded come seasons end. I'd imagine Chandler and Bradtke will be elevated to the Senior list. Joel Smith, Hore and Neitschke are rated well among the coaching panel, so they may get another chance.

Good idea.  'George' is a mod so he is able to edit and update the membership thread.

The chart is an embedded image so it would be difficult to update and keep the formatting.

An option might be for me to have open ended 'edit' facility for this thread but perhaps not technically possible and I copy the latest to the start of the thread.

Or the mods may find a way to copy and 'lock' the latest version to the start of the thread.

I would like to also keep the updates in the body of the thread so the on-going dialogue makes sense, especially to infrequent readers.

@Demonlandwhat do you think the options might be?

Done.

See first post in the thread and let me know if that is what you wanted?

Just remind me to update whenever you have a new list.

Thanks Andy.  That is fine.  A good suggestion by @daisycutteras having the latest and the original chart shows the changes for the year at a glance

I will 'report' any post I make with a new chart.

I thought the same for a while but I feel like the way the players and coaches talk, Brayshaw won't be going anywhere.  I think they've asked him to play a specific role and he is doing it.  If he wasn't happy or the club wasn't happy there would have been opportunities at the end of last year.  The only way I see this changing is if they are forced to play TMac further up the ground (eg the wing) when Jacko comes back and Brayshaw loses his spot.  It's not inconceivable given TMac got many of his possessions in the back half last week.  Although I expect they would want to do this sooner than later if they do it at all.

The coach is as big a fan of Gus as he is of Melksham. Within the walls of the club, he is being praised for the selfless role he is playing, not to mention that he's a highly popular figure amongst his team mates.

Next big contact to get done is Luke Jackson and must be priority 1, would love to see his name next to trac or Salem

That is great but when you look at our list he is one player that would have some trade value and we have others developing that could fill his current role in 2022.  We would be spending to keep a number of players the better you get the harder it is to manage salary cap, I don't think we will be able to keep him when he becomes a RFA.

Update for Alex Neal Bullen's two year contract extension.

Given how well Hibberd is playing he would be good for another 1 year contract.  Goodwin is pretty confident Weideman will stay with the club.

Well done to the contracting team for signing up so many OOC players early in the season and for bringing forward other contract renewals.

Club website says:  "Joining the club as rookies, the duo will provide instant depth to Melbourne’s backline stocks, while also looking to impress at training and secure their position beyond 2021".

I have them as 6 month contracts.

Updated for Turner and Declase, our mid season rookies contracted for 6 months.  They are replacements for our LTI players Tomlinson and Nietschke.

Also updated the Free Agency status of affected players.

Dr Drake
Your prediction is based on your own assumption thst Angus is set yo play as a winger for the rest of his career.

He has embraced his move snd team role as a professional athlete should.

And  guess what if he happens to be on that Dias in September with a medal  around his neck your prediction will go out the window.

I would say that he is fulfilling a team role of extreme importance where necessary but this won't necessarily be a career long move as we have Rosman  and now Kye Declese in the wings.

So who else is trade bait you can move on in your Fantasy list management?

My assumption is based around a player that could have value at the trade table that we can cover with other players on our list.

We have locked away Petracca, Viney, Oliver, Harmes add in Jordon all till at least 2023 these are the guys keeping Brayshaw out of the centre square and you are right the club is still searching for another wing.

Will this happen no idea but if the club is looking to get early picks he is a player that can get this and as mentioned we have players that can cover his role.

So what other players or positions do you think we should look at trading Gus for Dr? A/B graders from other Club OR get say high 2nd rounder for  Gus or even a very low 1st if possible.?

You are looking for at least a top 12 pick and I would take this to the draft.

Thanks L H top effort, our List is now complete and I personally feel relieved as Declase and Turner now cover all our potential weaknesses .

Go Dee’s in J T we trust....!!!!

IMO, at the end of the season we'll be saying goodbye to Bradtke, Neitschke, Mitch Brown, Jones, Jetta, Baker, Vandenberg and one of Hore or Joel Smith.  Chandler joins Jordon as a promoted rookie.

That would leave us three senior list spots and two rookie list spots for the 2022 season. Gives us the flexibility to bring in someone via trade or free agency if need be, but otherwise we can just go to the draft.

Won't get straight out a12 first rounder unless Gus is the Norm Smith Medallist.!!

Another small nitpick LH, but (unless I am missing something???) I make it 45 total - 37 senior, 5 'A', 1 'B', 2 MSR

Love your work and thanks!  ?

fair to say jsmith wasnt the resigning i was expecting at all let alone 4 weeks before the end of the season especially as he was one of the last to get a deal last season when we were tossing up he or OMac. must be playing for a packet of chips/part of his dads compo. particularly with the versatile declase and developing tall turner on board now but oh well fair play to him must be doing something right

Update for J. Smith one year extension,

As the club is in list management mode, I wouldn't be surprised to see a flurry of contract renewals in the next month or so.

Hopefully, some of the 2022 OOC players sign early extensions especially Jackson and Petty.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

The Demons have slumped to their worst start to a season since 2012, falling to 0–4 after a more spirited showing against the Cats at Kardinia Park. Despite the improved effort, they went down by 39 points, and the road ahead is looking increasingly grim.
