I can't say I'm disappointed by this.

Will be forever thankful for that goal in kicked on the run in the elimination final. One of the best highlights for me in the past decade. I could watch that over and over in my mind until we win a flag.

He is a great mark for his height, has a nice kick, however, Mitch was too inconsistent. He often went missing for large chunks of games. He was very injury prone and didn't get great runs at having a full preseason under his belt. I guess he falls into the category of being a great second tier player that can show glimpses but his loss isn't going to hurt us.

I wish him all the best at the Doggies (except of course against us).

In that article it says we offered a two year deal but the Dogs trumped us with a three year deal.

Feels like the Dean Kent trade from a few years ago.  I'm happy that we didn't offer three years as I don't believe his last few seasons warranted such an offer.

He is Kent mark two. If 3 years is what it takes then as you say like Kent then good luck son.

I can understand why he wants a 3 year deal, but I can also understand why we didn't offer it.

If the Dogs want him for three years then more power to them and to Hannan.

He is IMO one of those players who is too good for reserves but just not good enough for seniors. He is not the first and won't be the last.

No loss to us as he's promised so much & delivered very little.....

A good VFL player but that's all.

Love to see a play for Lin Jong rather than a pick. Similarly to Hannam had injury issues but has a precocious ability and is a low risk investment

plays his best footy as an inside mid, not what were after at all, vanders doesnt need more mates in rehab

Disagree, excellent foot skills and could release Salem into a more damaging role from half back. I know Riv is slated for that spot but again as opposed to pick 57 or whatever we could rightly expect for Hannan I just see more upside

i have a sneaky suspicion hannan deal could be a late one after we've accrued enough points to trade into their first round pick through our other deals. but we could also flip such a pick for a phillips/higgins type which is more valuable than jong. + given no one has seen much of this draft class u have a better chance of getting a good slider at 57 than in previous years, if u look at it optomistically

I think the game might have passed Lin Jong. Had potential (and was deceptively tall) but injuries at bad times didn’t help him. He was someone that needed the development to realise raw talent and he just didn’t get it.

Dogs probably need to sort out their JUH picks.

They've got 40 and 53. We might get 53 but more likely a future 3rd or 4th I think.

Dogs also have the Dunkley stuff hanging over their heads as well.

Hannan strikes me as a deal that will done on the final day with about 30 minutes to spare.

Difficult for me  as I see something worthwhile in Jimmie but as many here have said doesn't bring it every week.

I guess Pick 53 is enough.

Yeah I rate him higher than a number of the fringe players but not high enough to offer him 3 years.

Yes we should push for pick 41 but it’s extremely likely that Dogs will only offer pick 54.
Other tough option is to jump up 3rd rd pick and do Hannan + MFC pick 53 = Dogs pick 41.

Mitch is now worth more in the market than Jesse Hogan - wow how things change

I rate Mitch and like him as a player - seems to have all the skills and physical characteristics to be a very good footballer but sadly never seems to get the ball enough and contribute consistently. Hence can see why a long term deal is difficult for the club - obviously WB's see things differently

Hopefully letting him go doesn't turn into another Jeremy Howe :(

Will likely be a future 3rd or 4th.

This will be a token trade to help out the player. We won't be getting much value for him. He was a pick 46 in 2017, we'll probably get a pick in the 50s back for him.

Will always remember that running goal against the Cats in finals!

You seem to be totally ignoring that the Dogs need points for JUH.  There is no way they're trading 41 unless they have sufficient points from somewhere.

Spot on Wiseblood. I am always astounded at this time of the year how so many don't understand the process. Hannan is not that important in the scheme of things.

Given that we're going to get bugger all for him, do we just delist him and let the Dogs pick him up for free as a delisted free agency.

Don't we need to reduce our list size anyway?

Leave it to the experts, you may be surprised at the outcome.

Not ignoring just forget in this crazy world of picks and points.

So likely future 3rd round is our best outcome.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
