Can’t we just have an awards night without Dusty? Not a forward pocket at all, undeserved selection once again.

Was Luke 'I can't imagine an AA team without Joel Selwood' Darcy a judge again? Or Ling..

Will be surprised if they go with 2 rucks. Think Max misses, as will Clarry

Yeah thinking Max will miss out now. Bench will be stacked with mids and maybe Butler.

Well this aged well, Andy ?

Maxy on the bench!

Happy days!

Well done Max and Tracc. Given NicNat only plays about 65% game time, makes sense to play the second ruck!

I love Max Gawn. I think he's an absolutely brilliant ruckman and a terrific ambassador for the club.

But he shouldn't have been in the squad for this season, let alone the final 22. He really needs to "do a Luke Beveridge" and donate that jacket to Steven May.

Impressive from Caleb Daniel. Dogs have a decent list, better than ours I'd venture (more depth).

Both Dangerfield and Bont named at half forwards..

Dangerfield = 11 goals

Bont = 11 goals.

Meanwhile true forward specialists players in Papley and Butler miss out...

Papley = 26 goals.

Butler = 27 goals.

Worst AA side ever!

No matter how you look at it, there's a bit of history in Max's accomplishment tonight.

With four selections now under his belt, Max Gawn has overtaken his numbersake, Jimmy Stynes, as the most AA selected player in MFC history.

He’ll be in there. I’ll be ropeable if he isn’t named on the ground.

Max will probably be on the bench.

Clarry will miss out.

Nailed it.

Max is the third Melbourne player to make the AA team after finishing 6th in the club B&F after Adem Yze in 2002 and Michael Hibberd in 2017. Just goes to show how different people see it.  Consistently different by the look of it.

That would be Barassi and Garry Lyon

well done  big Max .The posters expectations of you are ridiculously high. you deserved the 3 previous inclusions and you deserved this one as well .Nic Nat had a great year but  you are still the best ruck in the competition

May out of this side is a massive blunder. albeit having 3 AAs for non finals teams is a not a good look.

Ling needs to be pulled off the selection panel. Geelong are always over represented and Danger gets a free ride. Guthrie on the wing. Seriously?

Apologies! Clearly a MFC history lesson is in order.

Reckon I’d take the Bont on the HF line over Butler. His second half if the year was poor

Papley was the best small forward this year

Cam Guthrie AA.
Standards have slipped

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

    It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

    The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

    The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
