There’s no way Daicos is going when his brother is going there next year.

Wouldn't be so sure mate, they're under the pump cap wise bigtime and of the blokes they need to lock in, he's definitely the one they'd happily lose to keep the others

i reckon if you invested in him you could get him

I think we have 3 big weaknesses:
Wing, half forward flank class and backline depth.

It's nearly impossible to find the quality half forward pieces, head to the draft for that, but the best wing option IMO is Daicos. There's plenty of backline depth out there so that should be an easy one to find and fill cheaply.

1. Josh Daicos. Pies have to find room for De Goey, Mihocek and Moore. Make Josh Daicos a big money offer and get a skilled wingman to complement Langdon. Yeah he's Collingwood royalty but money talks.

2. Saad. If the price is right, pull the trigger.

3. Jarrod Lienert - solid 3rd tall kicking defender type. Gives us some badly needed defensive depth

4. Oleg Markov - quick mid sized defender, if the price isn't right on Saad he's a nice option

5. Jimmy Webster - should be free to a good home and can play

I think it's four, those three plus a key forward.

I'm not sure Jackson/Weid is the right combination. Petty might help. I don't think Brown is a long-term fit.

2018 TMac is precisely what we need, but 2018 TMac may well be nothing but a memory.

I'd have Zac Williams on your list, same deal as Saad: if the price is right, pull the trigger.

All players are going to have to take some pay cuts with the new Caps !

Cwood will have to deal with it like other Clubs but mark my in words no Daicis will be leaving Cwood No Matter Whst They are offered.

I agree that some of these guys are worthy of trade consideration, but are WE worthy of being considered as trade destinations? Who would come to us? We're a basket case with no (recent) legacy,  a poor culture and no guarantee of success. This is why it's so important to 'build culture' and try every week, because then all the cool people want to hang around with you.

I don’t think so. I think much more likely they lose Mihocek.

Numbers 3 4 and 5 are  no improvement IMO.   They just can't get a game and Lienert I don't even know who he is or why he would be any good for us?

Langdon in 2019, May in 2018, Lever in 2017.

We've been doing OK for attracting talent.

I agree with you, to an extent.

Lever was attracted off the finals that could have been, May off the prelim, and Langdon off the premise that last year was an anomaly.

How do we sell this year?

It's tough, but hey, I'm with you on this, I hope we do manage to con some serious talent into thinking they will find success here, because I keep conning myself into thinking the same thing haha

Most improved side in a ladder sense?

Opportunity to achieve the unthinkable?

Isn't that the precise same selling point we have right now?

It's never easy attracting talent when you're one of the smaller clubs, let alone one which never plays finals, but we've done it before and we should be able to do it again.

I don't think the Pies will want to lose Daicos now that he's established himself on the wing. Has played the role extremely well, but they shouldn't leave it too long either.

My feeling is that there's a mid tier group of Stephenson, Elliott, Mihocek & De Goey (depending on who they are shooting for trade-wise) where one or two of those might fall out to allow them to sign a key forward (Brown or even Cameron if they can swing it). Collingwood have one really good look at a premiership with Pendlebury, Sidebottom & a couple of the other experienced guys and they are a key forward short. Would imagine they'll roll the dice in the off season. Academy & F/S have them set up nicely for the next wave of young talent.

Giants: Isaac Cumming 21yo.
Running small defender 184cm. 84 kgs. 4 years at Giants but stuck behind Williams and Heath Shaw.  With the sun setting on Jetta and Lockhart seemingly not in favour, Dees could grab Cumming. He’d fit really well into our defence.  Could even get a shot as a running mid. Good pace.
How to get it done ?
- Offer a 3 year deal.  Giants won’t offer that. Trade options. Swap for Preuss or Swap for Joel Smith. Or trade 3rd round (hopefully acquired for ANB back to Crows).

Lockhart will be back better and stronger than ever in 2021 Cantnunderstand non selection at end of season

Look at the way Freo are playing under a first year coach. Lyon had them stagnating and had run out of ideas. He's done IMV.

Hannebery left Sydney and we were in the frame but missed out, luckily I might add.
It’s never a done deal until it’s signed as players change their minds, other clubs get involved or the club involved pulls out.
I get told things that I’m happy to share as I enjoy the discussion and I know others do also.

Keep sharing what you know mate. Easy to pick out the ones who start feeling insecure because others hear things about a footy club that they're apparently here to talk about. Be a much better forum if more of the talk was about the footy and not each other.

Our backline next year is:

May, Lever, Salem, Rivers. If we move 1 of Salem or Rivers to the midfield then it's down to 3. Who's going to fill the last 4 spots?

Hibberd 1 more year and not an automatic selection. Tomlinson and Lockhart are suspect at AFL level, they shouldn't be plan A without a decent plan B.

Oscar? Smith? Chandler? Hore? Nietschke? Petty (might be needed forward).
Jetta, KK, Wagner likely go.

Port and Richmond are 2 of the best backlines in the league, very hard to get games in. Webster was a good player for a long time, Ratten is just making sure the side has some youth. I'm happy to listen to any other suggestions as well. Either way I think we need to bring in some cheap defensive depth options.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
