I blame binman told you Smith has no idea how to play footy, never played a good game in his life, and for binman to say Smith is a like for like for hibbo, binman has no idea.hope Goodwin can finally see that too.

MFC under Goodwin - unproven yet entitled.

Needs to hand back the keys to the ferrari (to borrow a phrase from Hutchy re: Leon Cameron).

Goodwin has been driving the Ferrari for a couple of years now.

He had some of the biggest, if not the biggest, expectations on him going into 2020 and COVID/Season 2020 as we now know it has seemingly deflected the spotlight away from this. Plus there's the narrative going around that no club could possibly part ways with senior coaches this year.

I think he's going to make it through, but there cannot be anywhere to hide in 2021.

For what it's worth, the mind still boggles with the four year contract extension ahead of the 2019 season, when seemingly there was no threat of him going elsewhere anyway.

The thing is, even winning the last 3 matches doesn't make up for yesterday's crap. I actually want to lose now to hopefully be the catalyst for Goodwin to get sacked and Oscar McDonald to go.

The dees aint no ferrari

The dees are one of the 1970s Mazda cars with a rotary engine, perhaps the 1972  RX-3. Great fun to drive, fast and great speed to weight ratio.

Can perform remarkably well. When on are super exciting. But break down way too often, are temperamental and unpredictable and parts are all but impossible to find. As are mechanics who know their way around a rotary engine.

Joel Smith.

He polarises opinion on D'land and I'm not a fan but he kept the Swans biggest threat and best forward goal less yesterday.

So, credit where it's due.

I take your point Bman, and agree too.

Driving the 1972 RX-3 doesn't have the same ring to it.

For mine, they're a Ford Mustang: dominant and iconic in the 1960's with subsequent iterations showing signs but ultimately delivering slumping results and failing to capture the imagination of the public.

The mustang is great anaology.

Did Ford inexplicably sack the designer of the Mustang in the 1960s?

The two guys who missed set shots from inside 20m in the last.  Both of those misses went down the other end and ended in goals to the Swans.  They are responsible for 23 points in Sydney's favour from two shanked kicks.

If the first one is a goal, then the ball goes back to the centre.

Funny you should say that Angry, i blame myself too.

Can't believe what i was thinking posting on here pre game that i thought Smith would play on Papely. I mean i know i was right, he did play on Papley.

But for me to have suggested he had the speed, athleticism and mongrel to go with Papely is just nuts.

Which is where the blame came in. i know Goody made that selection and match up based on my posts here on Demonland, he said as much when we chatted this morning.

When i aplogised i asked him why he kept Smith on him all game, Goody was clearly perplexed, replying:

"'no binman, you've got it wrong, i was calling to thank you. It was the only selection that actually worked. As you so presciently said Smith had the speed, athleticism and mongrel to go with Papely.

Why did i keep him on him? Maybe you stopped watching, wouldn't blame you if you did - i wanted to. But Papely didn't kick a goal for the game. Created one, but really was pretty quiet.

As you flagged 2 or less goals is a win and he kicked a bagel. Imagine how much we would have lost by if Papely got of the chain."

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
