CHANGES: Rd 11 vs North Melbourne

What will be fascinating is how the midfield go, without the dominance of Max.

I genuinely think it's an advantage, because we do have a fantastically hard edge. It's clearly easier (and I know it has been mentioned) for oppositions to set up 'knowing' with certainty which ruckman (Max) will win. They're all 50/50 contests now, and I think we are better suited for it.

Watch Brayshaw and Trac when he is in there, come to the fore.

Club Is cursed .. every club has injuries but mfc just seem to cop them at critical times & of course we are playing our  boggy team who we always lose to

If we can't beat North without Max and Viney and a near complete list of fit players from which to replace them, we are going nowhere this season.

Similarly Collingwood will be without DeGoey, Adam Treloar and Jeremy Howe and playing off a 4 day break compared to our 6 - don't expect they will raise the white flag, though I do think it's a game that we should win.

As opposed to dropping them off before they've been given a chance *cough* Weideman *cough*

Tmac has proved he can play the game at a high level. The Weid never had until his games in 2020 , excuse me 2 games in 2018.

You didn't notice I was calling for his inclusion in round two and the following two?

TMac has proved he can compete in the Ruck, you don't  have to be Max's level just provide a good contest and let the midfield players do the rest.

Of course I noticed.  I just thought it was a little ironic to see you telling someone they dropped off a player quickly when you did it yourself.

My source tells me that Gawn, Viney and ANB are the outs. Three players will replace them, make of it what you will.

Gawn can be replaced by Preuss Viney not that easily. I'd give Jordon his debut which will allow them to persist with Harmes down back.

Time to step up Brayshaw and Sparrow.

We would be way too young if Jordon came in, especially as Pickett is a  certainty.   And is Jordon even in Adelaide?

Punky Preuster isn’t in Adelaide at the moment. I’ve been told he’s about to board a plane.

And if we can't beat North without Brown, Ziebel, Cunnington and possibly Daw..ditto.!

I think the difference was I was never on the Weid so it is a bit hard to drop off. At the end of 2018 Tmac was going to be the answer as our main forward not too many on here were saying no way Wiseblood. Injury ruined his 2019 and now he is "finished" I don't think so.

Anyway it is nice to have a disagreement without either of us getting Nasty

I don't know why some people think having Gawn out will be a bonus for the midfield. He is our best player.

He's there and why would we be too young? Jordon is the only inside midfielder that we have that's not in the side.

Let me ask you this, OD. Do you think our forwardline functions better with two or three key forwards?

Amen to that!

Goodwin said in his presser today Preuss was one of the options.

Yep. Teams win clearances off Gawn’s dominance regularly. I’m not fussed about that. I’m just worried about our love of clearing the defensive 50 thru Gawn. Without him we have no marking target down the line. So that’s a big worry for me.
Maybe play Jackson on the wing and then let him ruck.

Pruess plays that role ok if he's in the hub.  Not as well as Big M of course but as long as he's getting the ball to ground.

Why would we bring in yet another inside mid? Viney out makes room for Brayshaw to finally play there, and some minutes for Harmes and Sparrow.

It's been pretty well documented why multiple teams can beat us. This takes our reliance on one strength that has been a weakness this season and makes us more unpredictable.

If you think back to 2017 when Gawn tore his hamstring off the bone, we went on a run after he was injured. IMV it made our reliance on him less of a weakness and made planning against our team harder to do.

And just on this. That year we used a mobile ruck in McDonald. I think we should use Tomlinson in a similar role tomorrow.

No need at all.  Harmes goes into the mid and Rivers comes in to cover Harmes.  Was bog ordinary in a HB role anyway.  Could be the tonic Harmes needs to get his mojo back and show the hierarchy where he should be getting more game time.

Harmes will play back. I think it would make sense for Brayshaw to take Viney's role, Sparrow to take Brayshaw's role and Jordon to take Sparrow's role.

Harmes was good last week at half back. I think they will persist with him.

God I hope Harmes doesn't play back ever again.

I am a Jordon fan by the way  but Rivers makes more sense tomorrow night IMO
