Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Incredible watching this, so much passion and excitement. The games this year without the crowds are so stunningly stark in comparison, its like a different world. Lets hope we can get back there. Stay safe everyone.

I know right?  Clips like this remind me how much I've already forgotten about what it feels like to be in stadium full of people going nuts.

I have been a fan of this unsung team player, so well done. Some people are starting to appreciate that it takes the :"role" players to make the TEAM successful

He seems pretty awful when Lever's not in the side.  I think Lever helps him play a lot better.

It'll be interesting to see whether he, Lever and May can get some continuity together.

My feeling on the 'all defenders up' problem is that we never get enough continuity in our defensive unit, so there's no trust or understanding yet.

Despite what Max says about Oscar's reading of the play, to my eye, May and Lever are much better readers of the play, but Oscar is deceptively quick. Where he really struggled in 2018 was his body strength, which usually comes with time. Another pre season would certainly have helped him.

The sample size is too small at this stage, but the Suns game was a good bar for Oscar. If he can aim for that and consistently get there, and the defenders get that continuity together, I think our game can come alive again.

We've so lacked intercepting and in turn, rebounding from defensive 50 in the last 12 months or so that if we can rediscover that key defensive trait of 2018, our side will become quite formidable with our clearance team. Then we just have to get forward of centre working!

I found it quite amusing in Max's captain's run podcast that he suggested that Oscar has asked for a portion of Lever's pay, since Lever only seems to play well when he's in the side.  Lol.  Came up partly in the context of that toss Adelaide club administrator having a go at Lever's pay.

Max also had a freindly dig at Oscar that he was asking around trying to find our how to reopen his deactivated Twitter account to bask in some rare praise from MFC supporters after a good performance.  Does make me think that when Melbourne play the Lions at Carrara stadium next week, I'm going to try and get down and shout some encouragement for big O Mac from the stands (noticed in the GC game last week that one of the benifits of small crowds is that individual supporters voices travel well). I think Oscar deserves some external positive reinforcement comming his way and I actually think he could have quite a high ceiling for us if he builds some continuity and confidence again.

He was rubbish tonight. 2 good games don't make you a good player

Rubbish.  Was part of a defence that kept us in the game for large parts of the night.  Hipwood and McStay had no influence on the game and he spent time on both.

Pathetic post.

Amen.
Biased rubbish from supporters gunning for him to fail. Pathetic uneducated call.
He did as a good a job on his opponent as Andrews did on Weideman who should have kicked 3 for the game.

Look. He tries his hardest and he has played well this year but he was very poor tonight. Im sure he will get better but we need our backline to gel better. He really needed to kill the ball more in that crucial last quarter

He had two mares. Other than that he was solid.

He's making Lever and May become better players. That's enough to have him in the side.

Whilst our defence wasn't necessarily poor tonight they were really not at the standard we need them to be to challenge for finals

Today was Brisbane's second-lowest score for the year, just 1.1 off their lowest (which was when they lost to Geelong).

They scored 7 goals from 42 inside 50s.

They only took 7 marks inside 50 (their season average is 10.5).

And Brisbane is possibly the best side in the comp right now. So if we're doing all that against them (on effectively away territory, given the crowd), then I think our defence is absolutely at the standard we need to challenge for finals.

At times our defenders were ordinary, especially in contest, but our zone defence for much of the game was solid and there's no doubt our team defence has improved since Oscar's been in the team.

IMO, the game was lost in the midfield where we failed to capitalise again on Gawn playing a nobody (see the Carlton game too that was almost thrown away). You can't play two quarters of football and expect to win games and our mids were guilty of going to sleep in the second and third quarters, and going into their shells from stoppage and with our ball movement.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
