Just imagine how cold it would be standing there. I imagine the players would be itching for a run or some game play just to warm up.

I still remember that game in the 1970s when the fog was so thick that players couldn't see what was going on at the other end of the ground. Someone here will remember it, but I think it was a Carlton v Fitzroy game.

It was round 21,1971. I recall it because I got 6 right for the third week in a row in a Football tipping competition at work. With 5 rounds to go I was 6 points behind. I got 6 right in the last round and won by 1 Point.

Must say I'm quite impressed by the 90s pop culture references from today's youth.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
