Extensive article about Dunny in today’s Age (Thursday)

When Lynden Dunn told Nathan Buckley in early January that his objective was to play on Anzac Day the coach raised his eyebrows. "He looked at me like I was crazy and there was no chance that would be even happening considering I wasn't on the list."

Dunn not done as belief remains high

How about that haircut!Β  Surely he lost a bet.

Looks like GA senior in that pic

How's hisΒ luck? Holds the record among current players for mostΒ games without playing in a final. Gets to that number (196 games) and then has two knee reconstructions preventing him from breaking that record and reaching 200 games. Starts a career as an assistant coach with the Collingwood AFLW team only to find that most, if not all,Β assistant coaches lose their jobs because of the Covid-19 downturn.

I confess to having not been a fan of his when he played with us, but since he left I've grown to appreciate his attitude to life. If anyone in the footy world deserves a break, it's him.

It's a lesser known Royal Childrens' Hospital fundraiser under the guise 'Mullets for the Kids.' Lynden Dunne and the other advocate/patron Bailey Smith from the Western Bulldogs, get sponsored for growing mullets. I think Smith was supposed to shave his off late last year (he'd probably raise much more money to get rid of it) but perhaps he's too attached.

Check out the website/FB page for some seriously unfortunate do's.

Thanks for the info Rog.Β  That would explain the length at the back, but nothing excuses that shaved area above his ear!

Ahhhh!!

we developed him for about 165 games!

i was a massive fan - not so much for his football, which was patchy at best, but cos he was a genuinely great guy

Can we spell his name correctly (out of respect for all the games he played)

Yep and after ahhhh how many years........56 you can find some positives???

Give me a break. The amount of bungling, shocking draft selections, inability to develop players..

Over many many years ,Has meant we are almost still STILL a basket case!!

Oh tell me that the 20 or soΒ points we lost to West Coast 2 weeks ago was an aberration!! We were MILES of the pace.

Look carefully at some of the players who STILL can get a game!! Spare Me!!

Sorry!! Goody aint the answer and u can write of this year.

Make no mistake we are stillΒ

Pretty GOD damn ordinary!!

I think we all will be writing off this year. It also appears to me that you should follow another team seeing the Dees are a basket case in your eyes.

I'm now expecting you to advise which player has had his name mis-spelt the most different ways.

Yes we're all quite aware of how disappointing we've been since 1964 (I've been a supporter since 1960 ) . But when I read certain posts that are just constant negativity I scratch my head and think, is this person a MFC supporter or just a MFC detractor ?

Well, I wore a jumper of sorts and have associations with the club and players!

Since 64 GARBAGE... except. for glimmers of HOPE ! and plenty of time to get it right!!!

Or am I beingΒ  "Obtuse"

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

It was bad enough that the Melbourne Football Club created yet another humiliating scenario inside its wretched season at Marvel Stadium last Sunday, but the final insult is that it has been commanded to return to the scene of the crime to inflict further punishment on its fans this week. Incidentally, if this match preview, of a game that promises to be one of the most unattractive fixtures in the history of the game, happens to cut out of your computer screen three quarters of the way through, it’s no coincidence. I’ll be mirroring the Demons’ lacklustre effort against St Kilda from last Sunday when they conceded the largest last quarter turnaround for victory in the history of the game.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.
