Growth and sustained success don’t just happen as a byproduct of winning matches. You need to invest time and resources ahead of time so that you can capitalise on the on-field successes.

There is a startling gap in the club’s thinking where there should be detailed strategies and tactics to convert success to increased membership and revenue.

I have heard all this for the last 40 odd years about every board and CEO by disgruntled supporters who think they know better. I am not saying improvement is not required off field as it most certainly is, as any major sporting club is to keep afloat.

You’re wrong - it’s not available to read or watch, as it simply doesn’t exist.

It’s great that’s you volunteer your time & energy to the club (alongside myself at one point, funnily enough although you won’t remember), but you’re too keen to be a club apologist. We have opportunities staring us in the face, but we’re putting them in the “too-much-effort basket” or even failing to recognise them at all, and in the same instance giving other clubs a free hit to capitalise where we could be evening the ledger.

Mate, for crying out loud, put up or shut up. These allegations your making towards the club have so far been completely unsubstantiated so until you provide any shred of evidence of what’s going on internally then why should anyone believe you?

I mean it’s not like you have information that will lead to the arrest of Hillary Clinton or anything...

A serious question. Has the club ever made a mistake In your opinion?

Of course the club has made mistakes but the sheer pettiness of some of the posts on here astounds/amuses me, it's just the AGM, information provided post event

Australia Post is appalling, if you have a registered email with the club, you would not receive the notification by post

Well put, so have I, hands up if you can do a better job and why haven't you

C’mon @Mach5 you need to put up what you either know first hand or have been told by a solid source.
you are obviously close to the inner workings of Jeelong over the years, to a point. If it is a similar situation at The MFC, then at least drip feed some info.
At the moment you are just throwing punches at Pert. Now your reaction may turn out to be correct in time, but without  solid information it doesn’t stick.

i like the 4 year plan, i want it to work.
If it doesn’t, Bartlett, Pert and the Board must walk the plank ?‍☠

Goodwin has to perform this year

But it is up to the Members and Supporters to hold them to account.
we were given a Template last night.

Has the club got your email? if so you got it alright the email, with the thousands of email anyone gets these days it's easy to miss it or accidentally delete it,same with if you got it in the post you most likely threw it out without looking at it, like me and many many people have done hundreds of times with letters,I think the ones that say they didn't get it are just liars MFC SS members who like to complain about everything.

You are wrong with all of your spurious assumptions, as usual.

Not to mention clearly obsessed with the term MFCSS. I don't even think you understand it's real meaning.

it's funny how it's the same people that keep on slagging on the club about everything isn't it,the meaning of MFcss is somebody that's always negative and always ready to pot the club about very little things.

Diversion. Neither a response nor a refutation.

No use complaining about the lack of notification.

As others have already shown, it has been emailed to members, it has been on the club website and worst of all ( which I brought up in question time) was that 9,000 members ( I think that was the number) were sent mailed notifications, because they didn't have an email address.  It cost 4 days of packing from volunteers and $1 to post each of them.

And guess what, probably only 150 people turned up.

You're right George - there is no use complaining about the lack of notification. You're right it was emailed to members and on the website (not that i saw it). I checked my email and i received it 17 December last year (but hadn't opened it). I did not receive a proxy form in the mail.

If in my case if i was hell bent on going i would have made sure i knew the date. It's great that you, Saty, Cbd and others made the effort. My bad for not being as switched on.

Be that as it may i still maintain the club could have done a better job of alerting  members given the limited information they did provide was in the shadows of XMAS and two and half months ago. I mean i receive emails about insurance, paint and expensive cars all the time from the club. One more email flagging the AGM a week out wouldn't of hurt. Or a tweet, or reminder on the website. I have gone previously precisely because of such a reminder. How hard would that be? Not hard obviously.

It would be easy to conclude they were not super keen to have many members there.

It's particularly strange they didn't put any further information out other than their pre xmas comms or make any real effort to promote it given they were launching their new strategic plan. I would have thought they would want as many members as possible there for the launch of such an important document.

I suspect you really didn't want to go, but saw it as a  opportunity the pot the club

You do do you. That's interesting to know.

Because i have such a record on demonland of potting the club.

That will come as a surprise to the posters who  suggested i work for the club and am a MFC plant on this site, such was my supposedly happy clapper blind defence of the club and push back against those actually potting the club last season (see the sack the Goodwin thread, which has thankfully gone into remission).

It might come as surprise to you angry, but is possible to hold disparate and sometimes seemingly contradictory opinions. I can support the club, think the FD and coaches are dong a good job, think the board is stable and effective etc etc  AND think the communication from the club is poor and a cause for concern.

Find another post where I've "slagged" the club? If it's "the same people" all the time you shouldn't have a problem finding another one from me in, say, the last month or 2.

And FYI, MFCSS relates to Melbourne supporters falling back into pessimism. Got nothing to do with always being ready to pot the club.

So you are wrong again. Give up pal.

I work in an industry that still utilises mail, we have RTS coz the postman put in wrong box, address had a slight error in the database etc etv also it was stolen from the letterbox

The point some other posters are trying to point out is even if there is a slight error in anything the club does, the usual suspects are immediately in the topic hammering the club

Infallibility must be a wonderful thing

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
