They are on display in the foyer of the club at Princes Park. Also has some displays of club history, old guernseys from different eras etc. There is a cafe there as well (1864 Cafe). It is quite well done 👌

Have spent a bit of time there watching u18’s footy in recent years, can vouch for the cafe, staff there are good folks too.

I’ve only been out to Casey fields 3 times.  It is a long way out and definitely would not be preferred for the Melbourne Football Club as a training base for the players. It shows the poor planning and action over many decades to find the right location. We have to get a place like Caulfield Racecourse or Fawkner Park or similar!!

Not sure if it has been mentioned but any thoughts about La Trobe uni? Matildas have their home base there I believe. Loads of space, great facilities. Links to uni sports science wouldn’t go astray. Win win?

BTW, one of Carlton's earliest ovals used in its early history are where the playing fields and residential colleges are currently at Melbourne Uni.

As for Fawkner Park, awesome location, don't see local sporting clubs and residents allowing that though. The beauty of Caulfield RC Reserve is that it is currently dead ground, not used by anyone regularly other than some dog walkers.

 

Not to mention, I live close by. I'm thinking of mounting a campaign through the courts to gain myself a spot on the board so that I can push through my agenda. Any one willing to join me? Email arriving soon....

Even other Clubs have some transport issues. 
BTW it didn’t harm us in 2021 when the same size MCG oval was prioritised and the other facilities. 

let’s be more grown up and sensible on this issue. Caulfield hopefully will prevail asap. 

To be fair to Brock he had that opinion the day he left which was before the whistleblowing.

Still a bit of a feeble reason but I'm sure it was a factor.

Wouldn't be surprised if they were told a new facility was around the corner when they arrived... I stand to be corrected but doubt any top line player will see us as a destination until we have a proper home base.

Too small footprint for current AFL standards. Single oval hemmed in by housing. Hawks want to move to Dingley for good reasons.

Wow, they have to travel for four hours for two days to train. How imposing is that? Guys making good money to play a game. I don't know how the common folk do that for five to six days a week for a lot less money. What a bunch of precious people.

So if we had to fly to Brisbane every week to play, you wouldn't see that as being detrimental to their performance?

If I had a choice of clubs, the travel time to training would be a factor.

I can’t wait for all the negative dooms and gloomers to apologize for saying this will never happen.

Nor can I wait for them to complain about the location.

Can we expect "Results of feasibility study concludes that someone spending  lots of money constructing two football ovals inside the racecourse and a home base on the outside of the track is consistent with the master plan of the Caulfield Racecourse Reserve Trust"? Months later than promised. MFC can now release its Strategic Plan to its members......construction of our home base commences on....? Any prospect of the Club being in the MCG precinct officially pronounced dead.

All well and good to say that but when you compare the situation to other clubs, we are very hamstrung with our facility locations. Any issues arising from that really dampens the chances of long-term success.

Back when we were at the slums of junction oval, people with your opinion would’ve done my bloody head in.

How many hours a week to they train a session think about it, we won a premiership doing that, it is what it is and until that changes suck it up I say.

And people going on about a home ground as they have for 40 years do my head in, we missed the boat years ago so why winge and moan repeatedly.

We’ve got an opportunity to get everything under one roof for the first time in decades. The fragmentation has played a huge part in winning only 1 flag in 60 years. 

You underestimate the impact of these things on footy clubs. The same argument can be made for pretty much any organisation, sports or otherwise.
