Why is there talk about an injury for AVB - did he cop one?

A poster is adamant AVB has busted his cheek bone and could miss weeks. He started his own thread on it.

Knock on wood, but gees injury list is looking good compared to the last few years.

Now I've probably gone and jinxed it.

As an aside, how good is it not to have many injuries to senior players this season (touch wood).  Obviously credit has to go to Burgo and rest of the fitness / conditioning team - and there's also a bit of luck involved.

This could be critical as the season gets on - injuries are definitely starting to play a role in a few teams fortunes.

Especially critical for us, considering the fixture is going to be condensed and we are not going to get a bye like everyone else.

Once a cobra bit Vanders leg. After 5 days of excrutiating pain, the cobra died.

Get that Nietschke is gorn for the duration but a bit sad that Hore, Petty & Kolo can’t get beyond the indefinite tag.

That sucks about Kozzie, but hopefully the rest will help to keep him fresh.

Looks like we will go with at least two changes with Tom Mac being dropped.

So we now have Gawn and Viney and maybe Pickett out of our best 22. Still should be enough talent to handle the Kangas (who are missing Brown, Ziebell and Cunnington).

Pickett is playing

X-rays showed no fracture.

Would imagine he is pretty sore there though and might be a bit reluctant to crash in.
I am still a bit disappointed we didn’t bring in some more pace.

Rivers, Pickett and Hannan all add pace.

Rivers and Hannan are not real pace, but I agree they are not slow.
Watch what Bolton is doing for the Tigers, he is creating scoring chances for the team continuously. We need a burst player to break up the pack.

Understand there's already a line ruled through Nietschke for 2020, but it'd be nice to hear an occasional update on Petty, Hore and KK (although I've assumed for a long while that KK's career is over).

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
