Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Although it's been low key Colonel Clink we know nothing stuff up till now THE TRUTH ABOUT THE INJURIES TO SOME OF OUR YOUNGSTERS is coming out.

This has me truly worried because we are one club where injuries have a habit of hanging around a lot longer than we think originally. Ask Nick "426" Smith about that!

Just keep reminding yourself that we're better off being fit in September, than March.

Sylvia and Bartram will have delayed starts to the season, meaning they'll be in better physical condition in September (if they don't get injured of course). As for McLean, we're protecting him from any possible harm, as we should.

But let's face it, if we were playing in a Grand Final tomorrow, he'd play and probably get BOG honours. There is just no point risking even a grade 1 strain, at this early stages.

I'm personally more worried about Moloney, and I hope that all his hard pre-season work hasn't gone to waste with another flare of OP.

What the hell are our medical staff up to !!!!!

The Swans have managed to nurse their list so that they played in 2 grand finals without any injuries.

Mclean, Moloney, Sylvia and Wheatley have been carrying soft tissue injuries every friggin year.

Whats going on !!!!!

Moloney and Sylvia both have OP issues from the past which are difficult and variable to treat.

I am all for careful treatment of players at this point to get them cherry ripe for September.

FWIW, in 2005, Sydney had a long list of pre season injuries and got the list right for the business end of the season.

alpha, the club hasn't kept Bartram or Colin's injuries secret.

I posted this on Dec 19 2006 -

"As for Barts, i've been advised that it is EXTREMELY unlikely he'll be up for round 1. It's best to lower expectations, coz the word is that it might take a few weeks into the H&A season before we see him again. The injury has been far more complicated than first understood."

well i was gonna pick up mclean in dream team.not anymore!

Your kidding. Even if he plays only 15 games, as he did last year, he's worth having in anyone's Dream Team. Don't forget, when it came to effectiveness on the ground, Brock was equal first with Judd last year. And that was with playing 2 less games.

.....and Cranky Franky, Colin came to the club with OP as did Moloney. These are very difficult injuries to correct. The club admitted it didn't have the best medical supporting staff over the last couple of years, which is why they now have BB and his extended team.

That's a link to what you were advised but I'd appreciate it if the members were updated officially on the website or some other way. As it was, they said Brock was being rested for the Tuesday practice match at the Dome, then he was rested for the Nab Cup and now they're going to rest him again for a week maybe two. That means he's going to be out for a month with a thigh strain. No problem with that at this time of year but in the old days they would amputate Jimmy Stynes' left leg on a Monday and he'd still play on the Saturday.

I think they're doing the right thing by members. It's the start of March. The FD doesn't have to send out smses or post on their website every time there's a training strain. They've disclosed Brock's issue within a fortnight of it happening, and the issue with Barts and Col have not been a secret for months now.

The real worry for me is the kid, Sylvia

He has what it takes to be the best player at the MFC, if not the entire AFL. But his body has never been right and it is a concern

I wonder whether the ongoing injury problems to Sylvia, Moloney, McLean and Bell have something to do with the extremely well or even over developed physiques they have for their age?

Perhaps they were too keen to stand out and did too much in the gym too young, while their bodies couldn't cope.

Food for thought?

In comparison less physically developed players like Bartram, Bate, Dunn, Davey and Rivers have been largely able to keep out of the medical room and play footy.

Hopefully they can get them right over time, like they have managed to do for Doggie's and TJ hamstrings.

Maybe i've been hearing the news wrong, but i was under the impression that they'd got Moloney more or less over his OP. I thought were just playing it extremely conservatively with him, i haven't heard anything against his selection for round 1.

The other person that people are forgetting about is Miller having OP last year. Now i was a big rap for him two years ago, since then i, along with many others, have been dissapointed. However, it's clear that ND and others rate him, this seems like a crossraods year for him so i hope for his sake he can stay injury free.

What have you heard for his selection? He has missed the NAB Cup and the intraclub last week. I think the words "if fit" should be inserted beside his name by deed poll.

However, it's clear that ND and others rate him

How so? Who is Miller competing against for his spot (besides himself)? A second year player in Dunn who is still green maybe.

He is borderline player who over 12 months ago was removed from the leadership group.

I reckon it's time to get off Miller's case. It's been debated for longer than the Woey trade and in reality everyone has had their say. All that is happening now is "can so, cannot".

But as evidence of Daniher's faith in Miller you need go no further than the fact he's played on Hall, Tredrea and Pavlich ahead of Rivers and he was in the leadership group.

We all know he's struggling and has to earn his spot back, let's just see how he goes for a while.

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the
