To me GWS has shown their hand. They're going to match any bid on Green, otherwise there's no point doing the trade.

We must bid on Green to stop GWS picking up 2 highly rated players. GWS match, we can still take whoever we want at 4.

How can GWS be so sure that we wouldn't bid on Green?

This whole time its been Rowell, Anderson and Green as the clear top 3 with even some dispute as to green being the clear best inside mid, and if the comparisons of Crips are real and he is the best inside mid surely we bid!

Is there any proper footage from his Under 18 NAB champs?

Nah I think it means they are happy with either Jackson or Green.

Scenario 1: Melbourne don't bid on Green, select Jackson at 3. GWS select player X (Young?) at 4, then Green with later picks.

Scenario 2: Melbourne bid on Green, GWS don't match. GWS select Jackson at 4.

It looks like Green is ours if we want him.

There's 4 games of highlights on the Nab League app.

He's an imposing unit with an off the charts ability to clear his hands and then fire off excellent handballs on both sides of his body.

But I watched 2 full games and I didn't see him even once make a difficult 20-50m attacking kick, it was either long or rushed from a contest or short safe hit ups. Similarly I don't see him once run the ball and attack, it was all handballs.

He certainly does some things exceptionally well but it's almost all at or around stoppages/contests and so in many ways the same questions that apply for Jackson apply to Green as well.

Ultimately, not a lot has changed for us.

We don't get to trade with GWS, but I don't think we wanted to anyway.

We still get a top 3 player at our first pick.
The likelihood now is that we get our choice between Green and Jackson, unless GWS decide to match, which will hurt them.

Agree FiTB. Bid on Green @ 3, that way it stops GWS from bringing in 2 quality players before our subsequent pick 8 (and thus one less top quality prospect for us to contemplate drafting).

What's the worst that could happen? We pick up Green.....................oh no 2 Clayton Oliver's in our midfield. Yes please!

They might want anyone, we should ensure pick 4 is used for one player if they want Green.

If MFC have their heart set on Jackson then we're not going risk him just to keep GWS honest. It sucks they may get two top 5 picks but we're not going to compromise or alter our draft approach just to upset them.

How can the most talented list in the comp who  just played in a Grand Final two months ago,   have two top 5 picks in this draft

What a farce

They've also given up pick 12 (received from Shiel), pick 18, a future first and will wipe out all of their remaining picks from this year and next year to do it.

The academy system is a farce but any other team who traded out a player like Shiel and then  combined a bunch of picks to work up the draft board would end up with 2 very high picks too.

Knightmare saying on twitter if he was Melbourne he would be bidding on Green as he considers him on par with Rowell and Anderson and thinks the only reason the Giants wouldn't match is he's a surplus positionally to what they need, but i think the same is true for us as well.

I believe GWS want Green’s brother next year too, can’t see them not taking Green this year. I believe GWS have probably done a deal with the Dees, otherwise why release their pick trade now? By releasing the pick trade now, instead of waiting until the Dees made their pick on trade night, they have let us know that we are the only team that can bid on Green.

As others have pointed out, it’s a massive waste of a trade if GWS are going to match any bid on Green, which makes me believe that they know we are not going to bid on Green, or they don’t care if we do. Guess we’ll find out in 8 days ?

No true for us.

We need superstar talent, and  Green is that.

Never draft by positional need at pick 3

Funnily enough he is exactly the type of player the GC needs.

I wonder if they will go will Rowell and green with picks one and 2.

That will be some engine room in 2-3 years

Always go best available!

Im not wowed by his highlights either tbh, sure his ground ball and quick hands are great but he doesnt look to have much acceleration or precise kicking.... Is it possible his Power rankings are high because he is playing in NSW against poor opposition"?

Having said that, i remember people commenting on Ollie Wines' ability from highlight packages picking out his lack of pace and penetration in kicking....

Personally i like Young @3     Kemp  @8, BIg body powerfull explosive midfeilder...

I suspect if we bid on Green GWS will have a contingency in place to trade down the order for multiple picks with greater points value. Not their ideal outcome but still ensures an pick in the best 30 or so players on top of Green.

Maybe Sydney would want to talk about jumping back in front of GWS. Maybe 3 and 2020 2nd and 3rd for 5 and 2020 1st. Lots of permutations still possible.

Noah Anderson would be a very handy pick in that case.

The point is 99.5% of the football world think it is ridiculous for Jackson to go at 3. Lost me if it happens, sick of this crap.

I appreciate the work of KM and the effort he puts in ..... but he’s a one amateur from Victoria and there is no way he has the resources to be anything more than an interesting rough guide for the rest of the amateurs.

Why do you think GWS and Melbourne are both trying get Jackson? Why did he say that he was probably going to go to Melbourne (pick 3), GWS (pick 4), Adelaide (pick 6) or Fremantle (pick 7)? Because “99.5% think it’s ridiculous”?

No, it’s probably because the AFL recruiters know that he’s one of the very best players in the draft, and they are clamouring to draft him.

Or maybe, as many of you seem to think, it’s because the majority of AFL recruiters are complete idiots.

No but considering you must think we are, you might be able to explain the possible Jackson Draft with Gawn and Preuss.
