They've lost the plot. Nothing new there I guess.

Yes that was my thought toward the end of that second quarter. Let’s see how we go in the next half but come what may I think the umpires have had a shocker so far. Paying some very marginal frees but missing the obvious.

Umpires telling players how to play. THAT IS NOT YOUR JOB

If a player goes over the limit then pay a free, Charlie Cameron has a bad arm, but it was his decision to come back on.

Would love to have Hipwood playing for us.  Weid is in a similar playing role and similar stage in his career but seems to be so far off impacting on a regular basis like this young up and comer.  Reads the ball so well and great overhead.  Works hard to get front position and to get separation on his opponent for the hit up.

First line correct - but they do it all the time.  Second line: why he is on the field is irrelevant. AFL must be the only code where the players, officials and commentators have never bothered to read the rules.     The commentators' discussion about what's acceptable is a laugh.  Here's a simple way to avoid it.  Any contact which is deliberate and does not involve trying to get the ball, tackling, shepherding etc should be prohibited contact whether players are injured or not. Would cut out stupid niggling which has nothing to do with footy skills.

Nothing wrong with testing out your opponent. Always been a part of the game

Worst thing about it is the dribble we'll hear from the commentators about it now.

"I've seen the (Hawkins) incident, what I will say is what I think in recent weeks in the AFL is moving away from suspensions.

"I agree with the AFL's approach, you want the best players out there playing so I'd hope there's consistency in that."

Maybe, but these constant elbows to the ribs and the kidneys are unnecessary.

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
